Yet another first year team that had a very successful year in terms on making the girls better and exposing them to top notch talent. Trips included The Greater Midwest Classic in St. Louis, the outstanding Mohr Magic Event in Indianapolis, as well as several events in Louisville and Indy. Although the 18-15 record was not as strong as they had wished, 10 of those defeats were decided in late in the second halves. Additionally, we had a few players drop their commitment levels late in the year and were forced to add 3 new players late. We know 5 or 6 of the girls will be back for next year, plus 2 more late season additions, will make this a strong core for the 2009 season. Look a late February tryout for the remaining spots to be filled.

Despite being the smallest team in every game all year long, this group of girls never stopped competing. Despite their 16-18 record and winning 2 events, the level of tournament play was well above their previous years. They participated in events in 2 events each in St. Louis, Indianapolis, and Louisville as well as events in Belleville, IL, and a 2 game series against a Kentucky Jr. All-Star Team. Several players sparked some college interest in the NCAA Certified events. This will be an exciting group of girls to watch in their upcoming high school seasons as several will be highly ranked in their class. Expect to see a few changes to this team for next year as a few of the girls have decided they no longer wish to try to play in college.

A special thanks goes out to Coach Barrett and Coach Wilson for their countless hours of work they have put in the last few years! This team was only able to play a very limited number of games before injuries and other unforeseen circumstances ended their season prematurely. They finished with a 7-6 record while playing in 3 very strong events: Mohr Magic in Noblesville, IN, the Bluegrass Open in Louisville, KY and a USSSA National Qualifier in Illinois. We wish all the players a great senior year.
