[Name of convener] Leads GradNation Movement in [Community]

Each year, one in five students in the U.S. drops out of high school before graduation. CONVENER is working to change this trend by hosting a GradNation Community Summit for COMMUNITY on DATE.

One of 100 communities across the country organizing a summit, COMMUNITY is bringing together leaders from businesses, civic organizations, non-profits, local government, public schools, higher education, foundations, faith-based organizations, parents and young people to develop a multi-year action plan that will accelerate progress on graduation rates. At the heart of these plans will be the Five Promises, the wraparound services that dramaticallyincrease a young person’s chance of success: caring adults, safe places, an effective education, a healthy start, and opportunities to help others.

Since its launch in 2010, the GradNation campaign has become a crucial part of raising national awareness of the high school dropout crisis and helping communities work together more effectively to prepare young people for success in college and career. With a goal of achieving a 90 percent graduation rate by 2020, the GradNation campaign is asking communities to accelerate their efforts to raise graduation rates. COMMUNITYis doing its part with this summit that will drive the United States even more powerfully towards this milestone. The current graduation rate in COMMUNITY is XX.

COMMUNITY will usethis summitto create greater awareness, engagement, and coordinated action – all leading to better outcomes for local young people. Summit attendees will also hear about promising solutions happening here, in COMMUNITY, as well as other practices and programs around the nation that could work locally.

The premier sponsor of the national GradNation Community Summits initiative is AT&T.
