Teaching Experience:

I was appointed as Professor of Plant Sciences at Leeds University in 2009. I lead module BLGY3173: Planr Growth and Resource Acqusistion. I also teach on moduleBLGY2163 How Plants Work.I currently have 2 Masters Bioscience (Biol 5292M) project students in my lab and each year I have up to 6 third year undergraduate project students. I have 13 personal tutees in BLGY1303 and 13 personal tutees in BLGY2100.

Currently, I have four PhD students in the lab: Ambra Di Simone, Daniel Shaw, James Cooper,and Nurhayati Razak.

I have acted as the external examiner for the University of Nottingham, U.K., MSc. Courses in Plant Genetic Manipulation and Plant Biotechnology, from 2003-2006. I was the external assessor for the revalidation of the Subject Unit 3A: Biosciences (undergraduate) for the University of Ulster in 2009. I was the external examiner for the BSc (Hons) in Agricultural Biotechnology in the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Mauritius (2010-2012).I was a Disciplinary Vice-Chairin the Research Quality Review of University College Cork, Ireland (2014-2015).

Over the last 10 years, I have been the external examiner for 60 PhD theses and habilitations in the U.K. and abroad.

I published a book called “Photosynthesis”, for students (Foyer, CH 1984, “Photosynthesis”, Bittar EE series ed., Cell Biology: A series of monographs, John Wiley and Sons, New York, 219 pp).

To date, I have also coedited severalpublished books:
