NAEA Award Application

EligibilityAll active NAEA members are eligible to complete award applications for the Outstanding Young Member, Outstanding Teacher, Outstanding Secondary Program, Outstanding Postsecondary/Adult Program, and Outstanding Teacher Mentor awards.

Outstanding Young Member AwardApplicants can complete this application after their second year and no later than after their 5th year of teaching, with active NAEA membership the three previous years or continuously since he/she began teaching.

Outstanding Teacher AwardApplicants can complete this application after their 5th year of teaching, and concurrent NAEA membership OR active NAEA membership the last three years.

Outstanding Secondary Award, Post-Secondary/Adult Program AwardTo complete these applications, all teachers at a given program must have been members of the NAEA for the three previous years or continuously since they began teaching.

State NAEA Competition

RequirementsTo apply for any of the award programs listed above, applicants must complete and turn in the award application, a current resume, and a letter of recommendation.

Award ApplicationThe award application must be typed and limited to the space provided.

ResumeThe resume must be typed, no more than two pages in length, and contain the following components: Objective, Education, Work Experience, Professional Growth Experiences, Awards and Honors, and Publications and Presentations (if applicable).

Letter of RecommendationOnly one letter is required. It can be written by a person of your choice, excluding family members; please state the relationship in the letter.

Regional and National NAAE Awards

Winners of the current year will be eligible to compete in regional and national NAAE award competitions the following year. For example, if you win the state NAEA Outstanding Teacher Award in 2010, you are eligible to compete for regional and national NAAE awards in 2011. In this example, to be eligible for regional and national competitions, you would then have one full year to complete your NAAE application, allowing more time for application completion and review, feedback opportunities, and assistance from other teachers and mentors.
