Letter from the DfE: We received a letter today from the DfE, congratulating the staff and the school on our Key Stage 2 SATs results in the summer. As you will be aware, the standards in knowledge and application have risen to much higher level, and we have had to adapt our teaching to ensure pupils have the correct skills. The headline figures are below, but if you would like more information, please go to the school website: information: school data. Huge congratulations to all those involved.

We aim to achieve a balance between excellent learning with skilled teaching, interwoven with a creative, exciting curriculum which meets all of our pupils needs. Staff and Governors are always looking to make our school even better. This year we will be focusing on purchasing top of the range interactive whiteboards for two classrooms (helped by the NSA), ‘CrumBots’, ‘Lego Wedo’ Construction Sets and replacing our non-fiction texts in the library with new ones. We will also be looking to develop staff skills, improve the presentation of pupils learning and build on our enrichment days (sport, art, pupil teaching days and drama). We will inform you of our exciting days when they get booked with our professional partners.

Everlasting Light Project: 12 of our children have chosen to attend this year’s Tearfund Schools Christmas Music Project. They will part of a 3000 strong choir from over 100 Suffolk Schools who will be recording a CD on Sunday and then performing at local theatres in December. The project aims to raise £50,000 to fight poverty and injustice. Good luck to those children!

New vicar: We are delighted to welcome Revd Canon Ian Wilson as our new vicar. Ian has eight parishes to run and has a tightly packed schedule, but we are thrilled that he joins our governing body, bringing a wealth of educational experience with him.

Parent Governor Vacancy: We are sending out a letter and nomination form today for a new parent governor. We strongly suggest you give this some thought if you are interested and come and speak with one of our current governors or Miss Kidby. We welcome nominations from people with skills and/or experience.

Parents’ Evenings: Please come into the office or telephone to make an appointment with class teachers (not Tigers). Parents Evenings take place on Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th October, between 3.30pm-6.20pm.

Congratulations: To James in Year 6, who has been working really hard in his local church choir at All Hallows, attending practice on Wednesday evenings and services on Sundays. James has also helped lead some services. Next week, he will be formally admitted to the choir in a special service with the Archdeacon of Suffolk. Well done James, we are all very proud of you!

Planned Bus Strike: Please can all parents and carers be aware that Ipswich Buses are planning a strike on Monday 10th October. If you use the bus service, please organise alternative transport for this day only.
