SECTION: BILLING

CLERK: PRE-PAID

SALARY: R105 564.00 p.a T6

Job Purpose: To create and maintain an effective pre-paid system in the water and electricity revenue section.

Duties: Ensure the collection of the correct information to register the pre-paid consumer on the databases; Capture the correct information on the system to ensure that the consumer coupon be accepted by the system/meter; ensure the correct information get send to vendors; Reconcile free issues with pre-paid management report; Reconcile cashier reports regarding pre-paid transactions; Manage debt transactions on the pre-paid system; Adhere to all enquiries, telephonic and personal, regarding pre-paid electricity; Handle vendor/cashier enquiries regarding pre-paid electricity; Liaise with the Electrical department regarding pre-paid meter theft and fraud; Handle block list enquiries regarding consumers who is put on hold/services are blocked.

Requirements: Grade 12 with Accounting and/or Maths; Good interpersonal and communication skills; Be able to work independently; Computer literacy (Ms Word/Excel); Fluency in two of the three regional languages (Afr/Eng/Xhosa); Good accounting and calculating skills.

Experience: 6 months relevant experience

Meter Reader

Salary: R81 384.00 p.a. (T4)

Job Purpose: To read water and electricity in the Breede Valley Municipal Area.

Duties: Render a water and electricity meter reading duty to ensure that water and electricity meters are read in time; Execute duties with relevant tools (Radix) and work according to route list; Ensure the correct reading for each consumer and handle enquiries from the public regarding readings taken; Open and clean meter box to capture the correct reading; Report damages on broken meter boxes to the supervisor to address the matter; Capture meter reading correctly on hand terminal and execute previous day’s default list; Hand out pamphlets regarding municipal accounts when reading meters; To ensure a well maintained and timely execution of meter reading services to the Council.

Requirements: Grade 10; Attention to detail; Good interpersonal and communication skills; Be able to work independently; Fluency in 2 of the 3 regional languages (Afr/Eng/Xhosa); Negotiating skills; Conflict Handling skills; Good numeric ability.

SENIOR CLERK/CASHIER (RAWSONVILLE)

SALARY: R127 668.00 T7

Job Purpose: To supervise and manage the cashiers, balance cashier transactions at day end and review bank statements.

Duties:Ensure the correct and timely rendering of consumer accounts; Create new accounts for consumers; Assist and complete indigent application forms for the public and make copies where necessary; provide valuation certificates as requested.

Requirements: Grade 12 with Accounting; Good interpersonal and communication skills; Be able to work independently; Computer literacy (Ms Office); Fluency in two of the three regional languages; Good people skills, writing and calculating skills; Supervisory skills; Discretionary decision making skills; Good accounting, writing and conflict handling skills.
