1Rules.
1.1TheraceswillbegovernedbythecurrentISAFRacingRulesofSailing(RRS),theprescriptionsoftheRYAandrulesofthe ORC,RORCIRC2013Parts1,2and3andotherratingauthoritiesandclasses,MedwayPortsandThePortofLondon AuthorityRegulations,exceptasanyofthesearechangedbytheseSailingInstructions(seesections67below),and by theNoticeofRaceandtheseSailingInstructionsincludinganySupplementarySailingInstructionsissuedatalaterdate.
1.2AllcompetitorsshallcomplywithISAFAdvertisingCodeCategoryCandIRC2014Part3(IRC-C)applies.

3.1TheraceorracesforDiv1& 2 aredesignatedasCategory4plusaVHFradiointheORC SpecialRegulations.
TheraceorracesforDiv3aredesignatedasCategory5plusaVHFradiointheORC SpecialRegulations.
3.2EligibleboatsshallbeenteredbycompletingaCruiserClassentryformforeachraceorseriesofraces.
3.3Eligibility requirements for boats are as follows :

GafferClassDiv3isopentoallmonohullGaffershavingaMCCPNrating
Aboat’shandicapwillbeadjustedaftereachrace.Anadjustmentinhandicapnumberisnotgroundsforredress,this changes RRS62.
3.4Conditions ofEntry.
Noboatwillbeacceptedasanentryunlesstheowner/personinchargehasbeforethestart oftheracesignedthe declarationonthe MCCGalaRaceEntryForm,agreeingtobeboundbytherulesandacceptingresponsibilitiesinthe termssetoutunderRulesandSafetyandResponsibilityabove.
Boatsmustraceinratingtrim,carryacopyoftheirratingcertificateonboardandbeavailableforinspection. Theracecommitteereservestherighttorefuseanyentry.
4Notices to Competitors will be posted on the official notice board at theMCC.
5Changes in SailingInstructions.
5.1Anychangetothesailinginstructionswillbepostedashorebefore08:00hoursonthedayitwilltakeeffect,exceptthatany change to the schedule of races will be e-mailed by 14:00 hours on the day before it will takeeffect.
6Changes to Rules.
6.1TheStart.Changes RRS rules 26, 29.2 and 30. See Section 15below.
6.2TimeLimits.Changes RRS rule 35. See Section 19below.
6.4Crew Limits. IRC Rule 22.4.2shall notapply.
6.5Propulsion / Use ofEngine.
iIn emergency. Changes RRS rule42.
An engine may be used when appropriate to recover a man overboard, to render assistance, or in any othergrave emergency,suchasavoidingcommercialshippinginconfinedwatersandlightwinds.Fulldetailsmustbedeclaredtothe racecommittee.Theracecommitteemayholdaprotesthearingandapplyatime penalty.
iiAnengineorpowerpumpmaybeusedforchargingbatteries,pumpingbilges,orsupplyingpowerforweighinganchor.iiiManual Power RRS 52 Manual Power,andERS B.5 shall not apply. This rule may be amended by Notice ofRace.
7Use of VHF Radio. Changes RRS rules 29, 41 and88.2.
7.1ThePrincipalRaceOfficerorRaceCommitteemaybroadcastinformationconcerningtheconductoftheracetothefleeton VHF radio, Channel 37(M1). A listening watch must be kept at alltimes.
8Signals made ashore will be displayed in the vicinity of the startline.
9Schedule ofRaces.
ThescheduleofracesareasspecifiedintheNoticeofRaceforthatraceorseriesofraces. See also the Cruiser Class RaceProgram.

11RacingArea.

12Courses.
12.1TheCourse,designatedbyanumber,maybeselectedfromtheMedwayCruiserRacingCourseSheet2016orMCC Gaffer Course Card 2016.
12.2Thecoursenumberforeachracemaybedisplayedinthevicinityofthestartingline. ThecoursenumberforeachClassmayalsobeannouncedon VHFradio,Channel37.
12.3FixedMarksandStandingInstructionsthatapplytoALLCourses:
Folly Beacon and Darnet Beacon: Courses shall be sailed leaving Folly Beacon to Port and Darnet Beacon toStarboard sailingdownriverandDarnetBeacontoPortandFollyBeacontoStarboardsailingupriver.
YellowSewerOutfallBuoyoffGarrisonPoint:NoboatshallpassbetweenthisbuoyandtheKentshore.
Boats on moorings or at Anchor are deemed to be an obstruction for the purposes of RRS. If a boat or its crew make physical contact with a moored or anchored boat she shall declare the contact to the race off as soon as possible and accept a 20% Scoring Penalty pursuant to RRS 44.3(c). If a boat caused injury or serious damage, her penalty shall be to retire, Aboatdeemed to have contravened this instruction will be subject to protest and liable to be scored DNE. A mooring or anchor line or chain or an object accidentally attached to a moored or anchored boat is not part of it.
13Racing Marks. Marks are charted navigational buoys and beacons, except for the MYC / MYA club racing marks whichare yellow drum buoys in the approximate positions indicated on the coursesheet.
13.1If a mark of the course is missing than you should sail to the approx. position as listed on the MYA racing markssheet
15TheStart.This changes RRS rules 26, 29.2, and30.
15.1Visual Signals may beused.
15.2The Race Committee may use VHF Channel 37 (M1) without visualsignals
15.3Start Time Sequence RRS rule 26 applies, with the Class warning signal being 5 minutes before the Start.("5,4,1,Go" sequence).
15.4Confirmation of General Recall and Individual Recalls by VHF Radio. This changes RRS rule41. The race committee may announce general and individual recalls by VHFradio.
15.5StartfollowingaGeneralRecallorPostponement.RRS rule 29.2applies
15.6Keeping Clear at Start. Boats whose warning signal has not been made shall keep clear of the starting area and ofall boats whose warning signal has beenmade.
15.7YachtscomingtotheLinearerequestedtoradiothestartingboxconfirmingtheirSailNumberandintentiontorace.
16TheStartLinewillbethatlinethatrunsapproximatelythroughthetransitoftwowhitepostswithtriangleslocatedonthe shore at the Starting Box on the club premises or from a committee boat (see Notice ofRace).
17The Finish.
17.1TheFinishLinewillbethatline thatrunsthroughthetransitoftwowhitepostswithtriangleslocatedontheshoreatthe StartingBoxontheclubpremises.(competitorsarerequestedtomakesurethelinecanseeyoursailnumberasyou cross the finish line)
17.2All boats shall take their own finishing time. This time may be requested by the PRO / RaceCommittee
18Shortened Course.
18.1Courses may be shortened at any charted navigational mark of the RiverMedway.
18.2The Shortening of a Course may be announced over the radio, on VHF Channel 37(M1). This changes RRS rule41.
18.3For the purpose of RRS rule 32 all marks are considered roundingmarks.
18.4Theraceofficermayshortenacoursebyrequestingyachts tosailtoamarkandtaketheirtimeatthemark.
19TimeLimitwillbe17.00hrsThis may change RRS rule35 See also the Notice of Race for the race or series ofraces.
20Retirement.
Onretirement,theboatshallinformthePRO/Line Staff assoonaspossible,byVHFradio,telephoneoranyothermeans (see contact detailsbelow).
21Protests shall be submitted in writing within one hour of the last boat in the racefinishing.
22Scoring for RaceSeries.
22.1ISAF appendix A will be used. The Low Point scoring system and paragraph A9 willapply.
22.2Thenumberofracesscheduled,thenumberwhichshallbecompletedtoconstituteaseriesandthenumberofscorestobe excluded will be as stated in the Notice of Race for thatSeries.
23.3Intheeventofatiedseriesplacenumberaggregate,ISAFAppendixA8shallapply.
24Trophies andPrizes.
24.1TrophiesandprizeswillbeawardedasstipulatedintheNoticeofRaceforeachraceorseriesofraces.
