Dear Parents,
My name is Elaine Slattery and I am delighted to be your child’s second grade teacher and am very excited about the year ahead! Because your child and I will be spending the greater portion of the school day together, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you, both personally and professionally.
In May of 2009, I graduated from Montclair State University with my Master of Arts in Teaching degree. I also have obtained my undergraduate degree from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania with my Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and Psychology. Throughout my teaching career, I feel I have been extremely blessed and fortunate to have had extraordinary opportunities here at CMS.
My goals for the next year are sincerely heartfelt. I hope to inspire a deep desire for learning in each student. In doing so, I promise to provide a nurturing, stimulating and supportive environment for your children. Each student will be treated with dignity and respect. I will set high expectations and will challenge your child to be the best that they can be. In addition to academic goals, I will also focus on the importance of developing good character traits, specifically kindness, responsibility and respect.
It is my intention to harness the power of dreams for my students this year and provide them with the tools necessary to make their dreams possible. I hope you will join me in my quest. Statistics have proven that when parents and teachers work together, united in a common goal, children reap the benefits. Please feel free to contact me with any questions and concerns as they arise.
