Dr Annemarie McAllisteris a Senior Research Fellow in History at the University of Central Lancashire, whohas published widely on temperance topics. She led the ‘Temperance and the Working Class’ project which produced the ‘Demon Drink?’ exhibition at the People’s History Museum,part of which will be atEnglesea Brook Museum from April-October 2013.She also produced a virtual exhibition at

Jon Curtiswrites about teetotalism and its possible future, as well as its tempestuous past. He is a Venture FX Pioneer for The Methodist Church (developing Christian community outside of Church structures), a Local Preacher, part of a punk rock band, and a social activist; all in Exeter, Devon.

Peter Crummett is a retired architect with an interest in Methodist and local history, and for many years a member of the WHS. He has had an interest in numismatics for many years and has been collecting temperance material for the last 25 years.

Jill Barberis Project Director at EngleseaBrookMuseum.She has a particular interest in using heritage for mission, to inspire, challenge and engage people with current issues in faith and social action.

Englesea Brook Museum of Primitive Methodism, founded in 1986, has about 6,000 objects and books connected to this important 19th century working class movement. It is one of four national Methodist Heritage Sites, and receives visitors from all over the world, as well as offering a range of programmes for schools.
