MUSEUM SPECIALIST INTERNSHIP
Job Description:
The John G. Riley Center/Museum is looking for a professional student to join our fast-paced team that specializes in documenting, preserving and illuminating African American History and Culture and its blended inter-relationships with Native American and European history and promoting the Riley Museum as a destination for tourism and economic development.

Roles & Responsibilities:
Guided Tours for Museum Guests(ensuring that first floor exhibit area of is clean, accessible and ready for viewing by the general public during regular business hours)
General Office & Clerical Assistance (answering phones, sending faxes, making copies, sending emails, checking mail, delivering messages, maintaining files, etc.)
Managing Museum Collections(including managing databases, developing policy, procedures and programs for Riley Museum collections)
Regular Cleaning and Upkeep of Public & Administrative Space (including but not limited to: exterior and interior sweeping, dusting, wiping down of furniture, electronics, office equipment, cabinets and other work spaces on a weekly basis)
- Assists in the implementation of the daily program under the direction of the Executive Director.
- Providing department wide training and technical assistance.
- Providing staff advice and professional development pertaining to Riley Museum collections acquisition, documentation, preservation, protection, access, use, and disposal.

- 1 year of work related experience preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.

- Flexible, with the ability to work in a highly demanding, stressful environment.
