The Minutes of the Joint Meeting of the Councils of the Municipality of North Cypress-Langford and the Town of Carberry held on Monday, May 29, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Hall with Reeve Bob Adriaansen, Councillors Norm Campbell, Ray Drayson, Fred Jackson, Harold Tolton, Gerond Davidson, and Don Hockin, Mayor Stuart Olmstead and Councillors Barry Anderson, John Anderson, Lin Mann, Jaime MacGregor (delayed), and Sandra Jones, CAO, present. Also present: Gloria Mott, Reporter.

1.  Calling Meeting to Order

4.  Delegations

7:05 p.m. - Alex Christison from the Carberry Ag Society was present to promote the Carberry Fair and Races to be held on July 7, 8 & 9. He referred to it as “The Largest Small Town Fair in Manitoba,” a new slogan being used this year. Exciting new additions to the fair is a mobile escape room, as well as mounted shooting on Friday evening along with the fireworks. The children’s activities have also been expanded for Fri. & Sat. In addition to the promotion, Christison had a few requests to make. He asked for a pet waste disposal station at the entrance to the grounds. He also requested the use of the paddleloader for an hour to remove sod in order to make the barrel racing course the regulated size. Councils agreed to both requests. Councillor Mann suggested a 30 km/hr speed zone south of Fanny St. to the fairgrounds and also brochures with event times readily available for the public. The grounds continue to be rented throughout the summer and Reeve Adriaansen commended the Ag Society on a job well

done.

b)  Tourism Westman Invitation

Res #5 Be it resolved that Councils authorize Council, CAO, Sandra Jones, and CDC, Tricia Zander, to attend the Tourism Westman Annual Tribute to Tourism Awards & Gala in Boissevain, MB on June 7, 2017. Costs to include: Tickets - $40 (plus GST)/each & mileage.

And Further That costs be shared 50/50 between the Town of Carberry and Municipality of North Cypress-Langford.

- Regular two drivers & one back-up driver maintain service
