Explanation of Pieces:

*To achieve an A on this assignment the student must reach all the requirements in the checklist and must include what is required in the explanations of each piece.

Biography

The biography is a detailed description of a characters life. The only characters this section will work with would be Huckleberry Fin and Jim—because we really don’t get enough information about the other characters lives. You are required to write a one-page biography for one character in the book. It can be written in 5-paragraph form, but is not required to. In the biography you should have, childhood, dreams, and obviously, what happens to characters at the end of the book. Please refrain from summarizing.

Formal Essay

This option is a five paragraph assignment as well, but not limited to. You have been asked to write an introduction to a new edition of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn designed particularly for high school seniors. In this introduction, the publishers would like for you to explain what students of this learning level and age group can learn from this book, why they might like it, and what facets of it they might dislike, or why, even if it disturbs them on some level, they might read it anyway. Remember your audience and the persuasive goal.

News Article

This piece is a description of a specific event in the book. This is an artistic option. You will use a type of article formulator to create a news article about an incident that occurs in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Possibilities may include: Huck’s “fake” death, Jim’s runaway and so on. Please feel free to choose any incident that appeals to you.

Short Story

If you did not like the ending of the novel, here is your chance to change it! You may also write about another adventure that Huck Finn goes through. This choice is pretty open to the author; you may choose whatever avenue that you please. The only requirement is that it is 5 paragraphs long.

CD Assignment

Here, you may choose to find 10 songs that go along with a section or incident that happens in the book. Simply choose the songs based on their lyrics and in one paragraph (5-7 sentences) explain to me why you chose the songs that you did.
