Minutes for Thursday May 19, 2011

March 2011 minutes: The March minutes were approved with the notation that the date should be corrected to 2011.
OLD BUISNESS:
Funding Proposal Approved: Sara Crites announced that the proposal she and Lee Henson worked on and presented to the Student Fee Capital Improvement Committee (SFCIC) was approved by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs last month for $27,157. This funding will increase accessibility to Lewis and Clark Hall by providing an ADA accessible door and a ramp.
Unfortunately, Guili Krug announced that the departments of Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy which meet in Lewis and Hall might be moving to a larger, inaccessible building on the Stephens College campus. Concern was expressed by members of the committee about these departments not having accessible entrances. Suggestion was made for this committee to send a letter to Dean Oliver expressing our concern about moving into an inaccessible facility. Lee suggested getting a sub group together to spend about an hour evaluating the facility and parking lot to provide specific data about the entrance and attaching this report to the letter.
Campus Accessibility Policy: Abbie and Heidi narrowed down the number of campus policies on accessibility, and the committee reviewed these during the meeting. Discussion ensued regarding the scope of our policy. Should our policy be a website policy only, an IT policy, or a broader campus policy that encompasses more than just IT issues? We decided to table this discussion until fall.
