MSR Transaction Manager – Position Description

The MSR Transaction Manager will be responsible for various tasks supporting the Portfolio Management Team. This role will involve transaction management responsibilities to ensure complete and accurate deliveries of servicing rights as well as pricing reconciliations and reporting on external portfolios. The role will provide the candidate with valuable experience related to key aspects of the mortgage servicing industry, secondary markets, asset pricing and investment strategy.

The Analyst will:

  • Assist SVP of Transaction Manager with operational considerations for new counterparty onboarding
  • Assist portfolio management team in planning, organizing, and control functions for all purchase transactions
  • Function as the single point of contact for a subset of co-issue counterparties
  • Coordinate review and summarize third-party due diligence of mortgage loan pools
  • Coordinate agreement review and negotiation of the purchase and sale agreement, interim servicing agreement GSE bifurcation, consent, acknowledgment agreements, master participation, and custodial agreement
  • Management and review of collateral transfer process
  • Responding to various seller and investor questions to ensure deal closings
  • Handling various inquiries/problems related to purchase transactions and acquisitions; and
  • Coordinating inquiries/problem resolutions with all necessary parties
  • Ensure complete deliveries each month by confirming receipt of electronic data, loan images and physical loan documents
  • Conduct purchase reconciliations for all counterparties monthly
  • Review custodian exceptions on mortgage pools including recommending loan exclusions to management
  • Track post-close custodian exceptions to ensure trailing documents are received
  • Communicate with portfolio managers about new investment opportunities
  • Assist in the preparation of detailed reporting of the residential mortgage portfolio

Education and Experience Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or other similar discipline
  • The right candidate will be flexible, action and results oriented, self-starting, and have strong analytical skills. He or she must have a proven track record in analyzing and compiling data from multiple sources.
  • Demonstrated ability to effective communicate with both internal and external customers, peers, and management
  • Strong proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite package including an expert knowledge of Excel

Key Organizational and Technical Competencies:

  • Experience with SQL, CAS, KDS and VBA a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and manage time
  • A self-teacher and quick learner able to pick up the technical skills necessary for any project
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
