Procedures for Algebra 2 PreAP/GT

Behavior Expectations:

Students are expected to behave in a manner that promotes a positive learning environment in the classroom.

1. Be prepared for class when the bell rings. Gather all of the supplies that you will need for this class including homework, sharpened pencil, paper, and book. Bring your textbook to class everyday except on test days.

2. ALL MCHS Student Handbook rules will be enforced including ID policy and dress code. Read your handbook and know the policies.

3. Eating and drinking are to be done in the cafeteria. With the exception of bottled water, any open food or drinks will be thrown away.

4. If you are given class time to work on an assignment, you may use the time for Algebra 2 only. You

are to work on your math assignment until the bell rings. Socializing, running errands, or working on

homework for other subjects is to be done outside of math class.

5. Be polite and considerate to your fellow students and your teacher.

Make-up Policy:

1. Assignments: You are responsible for your make-up work. Turn in all make-up assignments within 2 days. (This is per absence.)

2. Tests: If you are absent for a test, you will be expected to make-up the test the day you return.

If you are absent the day before the test, you are expected to take the test the day you return. (Review sheets are passed out with the unit.)

3. School Activities: When you attend a field trip, class meeting, athletic event, or any other school related activity that causes you to miss this class, you are responsible for getting the assignment before the absence. All assignments are due the day you return.

Homework Policy: Practice is important. To be successful in this class, you must do all of the assignments.

1. Homework is graded on effort. If you don’t understand the problem, work as much as you can or explain what you don’t understand about the problem.

2. Homework is to be neatly completed in numerical order in your workbook, on notebook or graph paper. All work must be shown. Failure to show work will result in a zero.

3. Late homework will be accepted up to two days from the day it was assigned. Maximum grade for late work is a 70.

4. You will receive a homework/restroom pass each 6-weeks. This pass allows you to go to the restroom. If this pass is not used during the 6-weeks, it may be turned in on the last Wednesday of the 6-weeks for homework extra credit.

Tutorials: Thursday after school 2:40 – 3:10 p.m. in room C109.

Notebook guidelines:

1. Procedures for Algebra 2 PreAP/GT Handout

2. Handouts as directed by teacher to permanently keep

Graphing Calculator Information:

This year we will have a NEW classroom set of TI-Nspire CX calculators with the new touchpad keypad. If you plan to buy a calculator the new TI-Nspire is recommended. The TI-89 calculator may not be used in this class.

If you do not have a graphing calculator, plan to attend tutorials to finish any assignment that requires a graphing calculator. All students will be provided with a MCHS calculator for tests.

Please register your calculator with me. This helps us return your calculator in case it is lost.
