·  Mrs. Browne-Seniors!-Remember those senior shirts we voted on in September? The wait is finally over. Senior shirts can be pre-ordered in all lunches in the cafeteria. If you don’t remember the design, there will be a copy in the cafeteria as well. Thanks!

·  Make-A-Wish-Mrs. Whittington-Make-A-Wish will be having a car wash April 18th. Please come out and support the club to help us finish off the year so we can grant a wish! Thanks!

·  Class Ring Order Day-The Jostens representative will return to take additional orders and deposits for Class Rings on:

Friday, April 10th and

Tuesday, April 14th during all lunches in the cafeteria

Bring your order and $65 or $100 deposit or full payment. See the representative to place your order. Prior to ordering, review the information packet. Packets are available in the Main Office.

·  Mrs. Wilson-Seniors-If you have pictures for the 2015 Through the Years Senior slideshow that will be featured during the senior luncheon…please email them to . We are asking for any pictures that show the 2015 seniors throughout their school years. Pictures can include selfies, baby pictures, group outings, or any other pictures that include 2015 seniors. Please make sure that the pictures are appropriate for school. Pictures must be submitted by April 30, 2015.

·  Guidance-Mrs. Fleming-Second Presbyterian Church April 17th from 6:30-8:30 pm. Invites seniors attending Univ of Tennessee, Auburn University, Mississsippi State Univ, and Vanderbilt Univ to a social gathering in the fellowship hall to meet the leaders of Reformed University Fellowship Ministries and other seniors and their families attending these four school in the fall of 2015.

·  Guidance-Mrs. Brown-Malone- Students, the Dual Enrollment meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 15th at 2:20 pm in the Library. Dual Enrollment Interest is Tuesday right after school in the Library.

·  E-Board-Mrs. Browne-E Board applications are due April 15th. To attend Nominating Convention you must turn in point form for both semesters. Point sheets and applications are available ;by room M222A.

Announcements 3/31/15

·  Mrs. Browne-Student Council-Student Council meeting April 2nd after school in the cafeteria. If you’re interested in running for E-Board, make sure you attend the meeting.

·  Mr. Boone and Mr. Henry-Tonight is opening night for FAME. Show starts at 7pm, Tickets $5 for Students and $10 for adults, teachers with ID-Free.

·  Summer Programs – Brown-Malone-Christian Brothers has three summer camps that range from business to literature. To find out more, visit White Station’s Website under the guidance tab, click the summer programs link.

Students grades 9-11, a Mini College Camp will be held at University of Memphis on April 25th. This will give you a glimpse into real college life. There is no cost. Check in will be 8:45 am. A continental breakfast will be served. Go to WSHS website under guidance and summer programs to register on-line.

·  The city of Memphis Summer Youth Employment office is accepting applications until April 4th. Students must be ages 14-21 and attend one of the Youth Empowerment Symposiums. Complete the application online @ cityofmemphisyouth.org or go to guidance on WSHS’s website

·  Rising Seniors and Juniors-UTK has a week- long all expense paid summer engineering camp. Application deadline is April 10th. Applications are on WSHS’s website under the guidance tab, click summer programs. Students must have a 25 on the ACT.

·  The deadline to receive the application for the Summer Law Intern Program has been extended to Friday, April 3rd. This is an awesome opportunity for students interested in law. Download your application on White Station’s guidance/summer program link ASAP, or see your guidance counselor.

·  Mrs. Johnson-Yearbook-Interested in being on Yearbook Staff next year? Come to the WSHS Shield’s interest meeting on Tuesday, March 31st from 2:30-3:00 in Mrs. Johnson’s room, M239. Can’t wait to see you there.

Announcements 3/30/15

·  Mr. Berlin - Congratulations to the following Spartan Artists for winning nationally in Scholastic Art Awards!

Aylen Mercado – won a Gold Medal for her full portfolio, 1 of only 8 in the country!

Richard Murray- won a Silver Medal for his pencil work.

Jennifer Xiao – won a Silver Medal for her oil painting.

Thanks to these students for making White Station the Biggest National Award winner in the Region!

·  Mrs. Whittington-Make-A-Wish – will be having a car wash April 18th. Please come out and support the club to help us finish off the year so we can grant a wish! Thanks!

·  Theatre Mr. Henry – FAME! This week WS Theatre presents FAME Monday March 30 through Thursday, April 2nd. Come “learn to fly” with us for only $10 adult tickets and a special $5 student price! See you there!

·  Orchestra Auditions-Dr. Palmer-Students who are interested in auditioning for the Advanced Orchestra in 2015 should see Dr. Palmer in the band room for an application and audition music. Auditions start April 13th!

Announcements 3/24/15

·  Counseling Department-Mrs. Heaston-University of Memphis Mini Camp-Please invite students grades 9-11 to register for Mini Camp College that will be held at the University of Memphis on April 25th. There is no fee for the program, but there are parking fees. The Mini Camp College will include sessions titled “Admissions A-Z” to “Financial Aid 101.” Check- in will be in the Psychology Building at 8:45am. A continental breakfast will be served. The program ends around 12:15pm and U of M will offer campus tours. Students must register online at:

·  National Honor Society-New applicants to National Honor Society, only turn you paperwork in before school (7:05-7:15) or after school (2:15-2:45)

·  Newspaper Staff-Mr. Harrison-Are you interested in reporting on issues of interest to White Station Students? Want to learn camera and Adobe skills? Are you good with deadlines? Come check out what the school newspaper is all about: This Thursday at 2:30 in Mr. Harrison’s room, E208.

·  Library Hours-The library opens at 6:30 and stays open until 3:15 after school daily except for Wednesdays. AP applicants are welcome to come by to complete applications before Friday at 3pm.

·  2015 Prom-Mrs. Wilson-Prom is April 25th @ Minglewood Hall. Prom tickets will be sold to Seniors Only on April 1-3 in the cafeteria during all lunches. We will then sell to Juniors on April 6th & 7th in the cafeteria during all lunches. Tickets are $45 per person. Cash only. Once tickets are sold out we will not be able to sell anymore. You must have a prom guideline sheet signed and with you before you can purchase a ticket. If you are bringing a guest, they must have a guideline sheet on fill as well. Prom guideline sheets can be picked up in the senior office.

·  Frau Warren, Ms Satar, Ms Barczak-Interested in going to Europe? Tuesday, March 24th @ 6 pm in Ms Satar’s rom, F129, we will host a meeting for you to sign up to travel. Hope you can make it!

·  Mr. Sims-AP Music Theory Entrance Exam-All students interested in taking AP Music Theory next year need to take the Entrance Exam this Thursday, March 12th, at 2:30 in the cafeteria. See Mr. Sims for more information.

·  Mrs. Fleming-Guidance-We are excited to announce the colleges coming to campus this week: Austin Peay State University and Mississippi State University. After Spring Break: University of Alabama and University of South Carolina. All juniors are welcome and encouraged to attend the visits. Please sign up in the guidance complex and get a permission slip from your English teacher or guidance counselor.

·  Applicants for 2015-2016 AP English Courses-are required to complete writing samples

Rising juniors applying for AP English Language will meet Mrs. Alsobrook in the cafeteria immediately after school, Wednesday, March 11.

Rising Seniors applying for AP Literature will meet Ms Douglas in the cafeteria immediately after school, Thursday, March 12.

Arrive promptly, bring black pens, and plan to stay one hour.

Students having conflicts (and they better be good!) must see the respective teachers after school prior to these dates.

·  Girls Soccer-McDonald/Knowles-There will be no Girl’s Soccer conditioning today. This is from Coach Knowles.

·  Tennis-Mr. Waller-All paperwork is due Tuesday , March 10th due to the inclement weather. If your file is incomplete you will not be allowed to play. Also, ALL tennis fees are due this Friday!

·  Tennis-Mr. Waller-All paperwork and tennis insurance fees are due by Friday! If you have questions please ask Mr. Waller.

·  Theatre-Mr. Boone-Auditions for the final play of the year, “Doubt”, will be Monday from 2:20-3:45 in Mr. Boone’s theatre room. Students in Fame please go back and set up.

·  EF Tour Trip 2016-Frau Warren and Ms Satar-Attention Ms Satar’s, Ms Barczak’s and Frau Warren’s students. We are hosting a meeting regarding the trip to Germany, France and Spain on 3/24/15 at 6:00 pm in room F129. Hope to see you there and anyone interested is welcome.

·  France/Spain Summer 2015-Ms Shirley and Mr. Flippo-There will be a mandatory meeting for all participants in the Summer 2015 trip to France and Spain. The meeting will take place on Monday, March 6th at 6 pm in Mrs. Shirley’s classroom, E103.

·  College Visits-Mrs. Fleming-We are excited to announce the colleges coming to campus in March: School of the Art Institution in Chicago, Arkansas Baptist College, Austin Peay State University, University of Alabama and University of South Carolina. All juniors are welcome and encouraged to attend the visits. Please sign up in the guidance complex and get a permission slip from your English teacher or guidance counselor. The University of Tennessee Knoxville will be here tomorrow for seniors only who have already made application for the fall of 2015.

·  Mrs. Gossett-5 days in Panama City + 5 days in the Rainforest-Application online from Feb. 17-March 22. Rolling admission notifications begin March 1st. Rising 10th through graduating 12 high school students. Valid passport is required through Jan. 16, 2016. 18 select students will study our changing environment in the context of urban and economic development. Tuition is $1700. Announcements 3/2/15

·  Mrs. Wilson-Senior Trip-If you paid the $40 deposit to attend the senior trip this is a reminder that the remaining balance of $100 is due by March 31st. You can pay the balance in the senior office at any time before 1:00 pm. The balance must be paid by March 31st

·  Student Council-is sponsoring the “Love White Station” Art Contest. Anyone is allowed to submit an entry, showing what they love about White Station. The entries must be on a piece of paper no larger than 12x18 inches and all media is accepted. The entries are to be turned in by March 13th (Next Friday) to Ms Browne’s room (M222A). Three finalists will be selected to enlarge their work to be displayed in the main lobby and the first place winner gets $100. If you have any questions talk to any of the art teachers.

·  Debate Club-Mr. Rakestraw-Congratulations to the White Station debate team. Over the weekend Freshmen Porter Clement and Becca Folkes-Lallo won the City Championship for Junior Varsity Debaters. Varsity teams of Jada Thomas & Rachel Griffin finished 3rd among all teams and John McKissack and Dominique Malone finished 6th among all teams. All of our speakers were recognized as individual speakers. Congratulations on another great season.

·  FCCLA Mrs. Cooper – FCCLA members please meet after school on Monday for thirty minutes-2:15-2:45-All members in competition.

·  Counseling Department-Mrs. Heaston-The Memphis Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in partnership with the Mutli-Agency Gang Unit will host its Spring EMBODI Conference on Saturday, March 28 at Southwind High School from 9:00 am-2:00 pm (8:15 registration and breakfast). The conference is designed to Empower Males to Build Opportunities for Developing Independence and will offer exciting workshops, interactive sessions, and opportunities for the young men to network with some of the most influential men in the Memphis metropolitan area. The program will focus on youth in grades 7 through 12

·  Scibbler Coffeehouse-Mr. Robbins-Ladies and Gentleman, come on down to the Scribbler Coffee Carnival, Friday March 6th at 7pm. The entrance fee is $4, but make sure you bring money for Carnival games and yummy food.

·  Mrs. Wilson/Seniors-If you have not paid your Senior dues yet the next payment date is March 10, 2015. Please bring in the payment on this date to the Senior Office before 1:00pm.

Announcements 2/25/15

·  Tennis-Mr. Waller-Tennis tryouts will be held Thursday@3:00 pm at Ridgeway Tennis Center. Please dress appropriately and be on time.

·  Counselor Mrs. Brown-Juniors will be taking the ACT next week, Tuesday March 3rd. Juniors make sure you are present that day and be prepared and focused to do your best. Also, don’t forget a #2 pencil.

·  White Station Scribbler-Mr. Robbins-The White Station Scribbler is now accepting submissions for its 55th edition. All literary works, poetry, art and photography will be accepted. Submissions due by March 27th. Send your work to .
