Announcements

The children had a wonderful time on the “Teddy Bear Walk”. They loved meeting new friends at school such as the nurse, the principal, the librarian, the parent coordinator, and the computer lab teacher. We found Corduroy’s button and had a special bear snack.

Your child may bring something that fits in their bookbag that starts with letter C for show and tell on Friday.

If you have not sent in a baby picture of your child, please do so. We want to put up a display of those cute little baby faces.

Today we watched the solar eclipse live on tv (we did not go outside). We also let the children watch a short educational video explaining the solar eclipse. We acted it out in our classroom using a flashlight and two balls to help them understand what happens. John Brier provided a cute “Solar Eclipse” snack for the class of a moon pie and a juice. We had fun learning about the Solar Eclipse. We also wore glow in the dark bracelets to celebrate this special event.

Those who earned 5 stickers last week got to visit the treasure box. Remind your child to follow the class rules of being kind, listening to the teacher, staying in your seat, raising your hand, and keeping your hands and feet to yourself.

Thanks to those who are selling for the PTO. Your children have been excited to get the incentive prizes. Remember, the orders and money will be due this Friday, August 25.

If your child is absent please send in an excuse the next day. These must be turned in to the office. Also, remember if your child is tardy (arrives after 8:05) or leaves early this is kept on your child’s file as well. Attendance is very important.

If you would like to order books from Scholastic, you can send in a check or cash with the order form. You can also go online to scholastic.com/readingclub and use our class code of H226X. The orders will be due August 25. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks!

We will start our reading program after Labor Day.
