· I can ask and answer questions about The Tiny Seed, Seeds, From Seed to Plant, and Jack and the Beanstalk.
· I can ask and answer questions about unknown plant vocabulary words.
· I can read ALL Kindergarten sight words.
· I can use what I know about prefixes to find the meaning of unknown words.

News & Reminders:
ü Math: We will be learning about 3D shapes. Our “I Can” statements are on the back.
ü Science: We will be learning all about the life cycle of a plant:
o Plants need sunlight, air, water, and soil.
o The different parts of a plant are: leaf, flower, stem, roots.
o We will also be taking care of our very own lima bean seeds.
ü Send in your Box Tops for the May PTO Box Top competition. We won $50 for our class in March.
ü Homework:
ü Read 20 minutes every night. This CAN include poetry notebook, read alouds, sight word sticker books, & when YOU read aloud to your child. The best way to become a better reader is to READ!
· Read Aloud Book will come home Wednesday and will be due back Friday with at least 2 signatures.
· Poetry Notebooks will be sent home on Monday and due back the following Monday.
· Rocket Math will be sent home Monday-Thursday.
· No Spelling Test this Week!
ü Upcoming Dates:
· Monday, May 4 & Tuesday, May 5: Kindergarten DEA Testing
· Fri., May 8: Kentucky Day @ HES. There will be all sorts of fun Kentucky activities. Wear tennis shoes.
· May 19: No School
· May 21: PTO @ 5:15
· May 22: Field Day
· May 25: No School
· May 27: Talent Show; Our class will be performing a song that we use for our classroom mission statement.
· May 29: Last Day of School; Kindergarten Graduation @ 8:30

“I Can” Statements
This is what I will be able to do by the end of this math unit.
Please practice these with me at home.
I can identify the following solid (3D) shapes: cone, cylinder, cube, and sphere./ I can describe parts/attributes of 3D shapes.
How many flat surfaces (faces)?
How many vertices?
Can it slide, roll, stack?
I can identify the position of a shape using the terms above, below, beside, next to, behind, in front of, and between.
I can put 3D shapes together to make new shapes.
