Spanish Day

To celebrate the European Day of Languages we have included lots of Spanish (the language we teach in Key Stage 2) in the day’s activities. We started our day with a Spanish assembly and found out more about Spanish around the world. During the day we learnt some Spanish songs and phrases and all the children have designed and coloured a Spanish fan.

Mrs Soria, our Spanish teacher, will judge the fans and prizes for the best boy and girl design will be given out in assembly tomorrow.

Harvest Festival 9.30am Jesus Church next Thursday 2nd October

Once again this year we are joining with Jesus Church to celebrate the Harvest Festival by collecting contributions of food for the City Mission centre in central London. This charity provides free cooked breakfasts to over 30 thousand homeless people over the year!

On the day of the service next Thursday, please could your child bring in an item of food which will be taken to Church and added to the collection.

To ensure that we have a balance of requested foodstuffs, please could:

Children in Class 1 only bring tinned fruit or tea bags

Children in Class 2 only bring tinned tomatoes or baked beans

Children in Class 3 only bring tinned spaghetti hoops or tinned custard

Children in Class 4 only bring a plastic bottle of tomato ketchup or brown sauce

Children in Class 5 only bring a plastic bottle of a fruit squash

Children in Class 6 only bring a bag of sugar or pot of instant coffee

Parents are very welcome to join us for the service which starts at 9.30am

Building works to start next week

The land beyond the jungle walk areas will be screened off early next week as we begin the building work on providing a storage space at the back of the school hall. This work should be completed by half term and with access to the site being across the meadow, it should not inconvenience the school at all.

Thank to the fundraising efforts of our PFA, the final length of canopy will be put up outside class 2 next Tuesday.

Staffing update

I am pleased to report that Mrs McLellan continues to get stronger following her operation and Mrs Stenhouse is also well on the mend. Mrs Foster will be away from school for the next few weeks as she too is having an operation. Any children that Mrs Foster usually sees will be supported in class by their teaching assistants. Mr Yarwood will oversee the role of Inclusion Coordinator whilst Mrs Foster is away. We expect her back shortly after half

term. Ms Camm returns to work next week and will be covering classes 1,2 and 3 on a regular basis.

Family photos next Thursday

The school photographer will be visiting school after the Harvest festival to take individual and family pictures. Please see Mrs Vial for details.

Key Stage 2 update to school records

Please could any families that have not returned their updated contact and medical record forms do so by the end of next week.

General Reminder

Due to the recent mild weather and warm classrooms there have been a number of unwanted ‘visitors’ this term. Could you please check your child’s hair weekly so that we may clear up the problem.

Governor Elections

The closing date for nominations for the position of a Parent Governor is Fri 26th September. Any parents who wish to nominate themselves, please contact the school office or speak to Sujal Zaveri or one of the other governors
