Job Title: 401k Financial Advisor

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary:Administers all processes associated with current and prospective 401k’s;meets with the trustees, plan administrator, and employees; and completes all administrative tasks related to such plans. 401k Advisor will work with Financial Advisor of the plan in a collaborative manner.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Holds 401k plan meetings with participants at least annually to provide necessary education and tools related to planning and investing, and completes all post meeting action items with plan participants.
  2. Prepares all necessary materials prior to 401k meetings, meets with trustees and plan administrator of 401k plans regularly to review current investment choices and implement changes when necessary, and provides financial planning assistance on an organizational level and to plan owners, as appropriate.
  3. Communicates with all plan participants to facilitate rollovers, beneficiary designations, online access, and fund allocation decisions, and provides appropriate financial planning and investing information in accordance with Department of Labor regulations.
  1. Ensures trustees and plan administrator are completing fiduciary responsibilities, such as approving the annual form 5500, plan restatements, or completing other services offered by third party administrators.
  2. Prepares, sends, and tracks 401k quarterly invoices to plans and provides accompanying documentation to HDVest upon receipt of payment.
  1. Conducts regular vendor reviews, both generally and on a plan level, as appropriate.
  1. Stays abreast of relevant Department of Labor and other regulatory updates, and monitors and revises all401k plans accordingly on an ongoing basis.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel and various web–based financial applications.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting; or equivalent experience in the financial industry.

Certificates and Licenses:

-Series 7 and Series 66. Applicant must be in good standing with these licenses.

-Life/health/annuities license preferred

-CFP certification preferred (or the equivalent, for example CPA or CFA)
