MAJOR DUTY ASSIGNMENTS: James Patton Tidwell is the Deputy Commander at Red River Army Depot in Texarkana, TX. He assumed this position in January 2010. In this position, he participates with the Commander in fulfilling all depot operations and tenants. As principal advisor and direct executive to the Depot Commander, acts for the Commander during short periods of absence and exercises full authority to commit the agency or to make decisions that are binding. He represents the depot with high-ranking dignitaries, maintains necessary surveillance over all depot activities to assure necessary integration, coordination, and administration of programs. Constantly looks for ways to improve technical operations, administration and management of the installation. Mr. Tidwell performs a full range of supervisory and managerial duties over the directors and staff offices.
Previous key leadership assignments include Director for Maintenance Logistics, Director for Contracting, Deputy Director for Maintenance Operations, Chief of Integrated Business Office, Chief of Production Planning and Control, and P3 Partnership Contracting Officer. In these key leaderships roles for over 30 years and 40 years of total service, Mr. Tidwell had full responsibility for the formulation and accomplishment of the annual execution plan for maintenance on assigned weapon systems and commodity groups. He was also the principle advisor to the Commander in each of these positions.
CIVILIAN EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science Degree, East Texas State University- Texarkana (now Texas A&M-Texarkana), Secondary Education with majors in Political Science and History.
Certifications: Small Business Administration Small Business Specialist, Department of Defense Acquisition Professional in Contracting, Acquisition Certification Level III, Lean Six Sigma Yellow and Green Belt.
TRAINING: Master Negotiations for Executive Education, Cox Business School, Southern Methodist University; Senior Executive Fellows (SEF) for Executive Education, John F. MARITAL STATUS: Married to Paula Tidwell; four children and nine grandchildren.
