Mr. Foster – Social & Civics:

Global Studies: We will be moving on to learn about the Koreas, comparing and contrasting the quality of life in both.. Expect a quiz later in the week.

Civics: Students will explore “Civic Duty” and research possibilities for civic involvement in their own lives.,pt 1 due March 1st, pt 2 due March 4th .

Ms. Chohan – Math:

7th Math: Students will continue working on percents. Students will learn to write and solve percent proportions. Please check sideboard and teacher page for updated dates.

  • Quiz - Wednesday - Percent proportions
  • Quest - Friday - Comparing fractions, decimals, and percents and percent proportions

7th Prealgebra: Students will continue working on 3-D geometry. Students will review all the 7th grade geometry concepts. Below are tentative dates for assessments. Please check sideboard and teacher page for updated dates.

  • Quest - Tuesday - Surface area of prisms, pyramids, and cylinders and volume of prisms and pyramids
  • Test - Monday (3/7) - Angles, triangles, quadrilaterals, circumference and area of circle, perimeter and area of composite figures, surface area of prisms, pyramids, and cylinders and volume of prisms and pyramids

7th Algebra: Students will continue working on functions. They will review linear and exponential functions. Below are tentative dates for assessments. Please check sideboard and teacher page for updated dates.

  • Quest - Tuesday - Properties of square roots, rational vs. irrational, properties of exponents, radical and rational exponents, exponential functions, solving exponential functions, exponential growth, exponential decay, geometric sequences, and recursively defined sequences
  • Test - Friday - Domain and range of a function, relations and functions, discrete and continuous domains, linear function patterns, function notation, absolute value, piecewise, and step functions, comparing linear and nonlinear functions, arithmetic sequences, properties of square roots, rational vs. irrational, properties of exponents, radical and rational exponents, exponential functions, solving exponential functions, exponential growth, exponential decay, geometric sequences, and recursively defined sequences

Mrs. O’Hare Barrows– Science: Mrs. O’Hare Barrows’ class will be investigating cells and the cell theory. By the end of the week, students will be able to provide evidence that all living things are made up of cells.

Ms. Slavin – Math: Ms. Slavin’s math class will continue with the unit on ratios, rates, and proportions. Students will be practicing different ways to determine if ratios are equivalent and writing equivalent ratios on their own. Students will then learn to write and solve proportions.

Ms. McMinn – Literacy: In Miss McMinn’s English class, students will finish their argumentative brainstorming and write the first draft of their essays.

Ms. Lijoi – Literacy: In literacy, Ms. Lijoi’s class will present their group power point presentations to prove who the hero of the novel The Outsiders is. They will begin to discuss what it means to synthesize information as this reading strategy will be required of them on their next major writing piece.
