That a position of separate Regional Membership Chair be created in Sub Region-A.

Background Information:

  1. All the Regions of ASHRAE except RAL has a position of RVC-Membership.
  2. Presently, Sub Region A comprises of 11 chapters besides Area Assigned Members.
  3. There is a bright possibility of formation of two new chapters in India in near future.
  4. A very vast potential of new membership exists in India, Pakistan & Srilanka.

Fiscal Impact: The fiscal impact for attending one ARC shall be USD 1000.00.

That a separate Sub Region be created comprising of three Indian Chapters, Srilanka Chapter, Pakistan Chapter and area assigned members in Bangladesh & Nepal.

Background Information:

  1. The present Sub Region A comprises of 11 chapters located in the vast Geographical coverage.
  2. The three Indian Chapters, Srilankan Chapter & Pakistan Chapter are in close proximity to each other.
  3. There is a strong possibility of formation of two new chapters in India in very near future.
  4. SRC of the proposed new sub region can focus on enhancing the interaction between members of new proposed Region.
  5. Considering the geographical location of the chapters the coordination of the inter-chapter activities would increase multifold.
  6. Strong likelihood of improved political relationship between India & Pakistan. Visa easily available.
  7. SRC can effectively visit each chapter at least once in two years.
  8. New Membership drive can be undertaken more effectively in the proposed Region.

Fiscal Impact:

The fiscal impact for attending one ARC and two Society meetings shall be determined

That a new Sub Region ‘D’ be created in Region At Large for South Asia comprising of SAARC countries namely Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Mauritius, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Background Information

1)At the time of formation of RAL – South Asia was made part of the Sub Region A. At that time there was only three Chapters in South Asia. Total numbers Sub Region A had nine Chapters

2)In subsequent years two new Chapters have come up in South Asia namely Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

3)Potential exists for formation of a Chapter also at Bangladesh.

4)There are potential of two more Chapters in near future in India .

5)Considering the potential these Regions have, formation of a Sub Region will make the Region into a more cohesive one, improving the interaction and administration.

6)Position of SRC for South Asia is felt necessary to bring a closer coordination and interaction amongst the members.

7)The vast pool of young talent exist in this subcontinent which can be inducted into the new grade of membership named Affliate Grade anticipated to be implimented in July 2004. This opportunity needs to be exploited as it has capability to generate large Revenue for the Society .

Cost of the SRC’s transfer shall be USD 5000, which get offset by large extent by positive revenue generated through the new grade of membership.

ASHRAE society to assist HVAC/R end users and home owners by publishing brochure and flyers to help them select and maintain their HVAC/R systems.

Background

There is no doubt that ASHRAE is doing an excellent job in servicing engineers and engineering related industries however the society is not doing enough to help HVAC/R end users and home owners in choosing HVAC/R systems.
