Moral Dilemmas Round 2

Dilemma #8 - Money
You were awoken from sleep early this morning by the sound of your parents arguing in the kitchen. Your dad has been out of work for several months now, and your mom stays home to take care of your six younger siblings. Money has been tight, and your parents are not sure how your family will make it through the next month. You leave for school early to avoid the situation. You head into the locker room to put your PE clothes in your locker. When you walk in, you are shocked to see two fifty-dollar bills lying on the ground. You look around and realize you are alone. No one would know if you took the money, and your family desperately needs it. What do you do? / Dilemma #9 - Exam
Today is the final test in your science class. You have studied all week long to be ready for this. You start into the test and are feeling good about things. If you can ace this test, you will pass science and enough classes to move on to the next grade. If you miss more than five questions, you will fail the class because of the low grade you have, and you will also have to repeat the entire grade. Everything is going smoothly until you get to the last section about genetics and Punnett squares. You remember reviewing this last night, but you cannot figure out the answers. You sit between two students who each have over 100% in the class. You could easily steal a glance at their papers just to remind yourself of what you studied last night. If you get caught, you will get a zero and fail the class. What do you do?
Dilemma #10 - Permit
You finally have your driving permit, and you couldn’t be more excited! Your parents are both gone, and the cute kid in your class invited you to a party. Even though you aren’t really supposed to drive on your own, you’ve had some good practice and think you can handle it because the party is just across town. You take the car and make it to the house with no trouble at all. Apparently this kid invited a ton of people, though, and parking is scarce. You finally find one open spot along the road just a couple of houses down. You think of your parallel parking practice and go through all the maneuvers to park between the two cars. You’re just about there when your head whips forward and you hear a loud crunch. You step out of the car and realize that while your car has no damage, the front of the car you backed into is smashed. The owner of the car is probably rocking out at the party, and you are alone on the street. What do you do? / Dilemma #11 - Fugitive
A group of high school kids invites you to play fugitive in the canyon with them. You show up a few minutes late and join your buddy along with other kids your age who are assigned to be the fugitives. Two older boys are assigned to be drivers, and the other high school kids are assigned to be cops (riding in the cars). You are given a head start to try and get to the end destination or find a spot to hide before the “cops” come to find you and tag you out. You and your buddy are fast runners and make some good headway before you start to hear the cars in the distance. While you’re waiting, your buddy starts giggling, and you realize he has been drinking. You ask him about it, and he tells you that everyone had a fewdrinks before the game. The cars are getting closer and suddenly your buddy says, “Watch this, Man!” He jumps out from the hiding spot and stands in the middle of the road. You gasp as you see the car lights racing toward him. You are sure now that the driver must be drunk as well. You yell at your buddy and tell him to get out of the way. He just laughs. The car is only seconds away and isn’t slowing down. You may be able to save him if you push him out of the way, but if you can’t move him fast enough, you will be hit by the car. What do you do?
Dilemma #12 - Secret
You have a friend who always comes to school in long sleeve t-shirts or hoodies, even when it’s warm outside. You don’t think much of it until she comes to school one day with a black eye. You ask what happened. She won’t tell you in class, but she confesses to you later that day when no one is around. She pulls up her sleeves, and you see bruises, cuts, and burns. Her dad is abusing her. You exclaim that you will tell someone who can help her. She grabs your hand and says you can’t. Her dad is a well-respected police officer. She tried to go for help once before. No one believed her because of who her dad was, and when he found out she had told, she got the beating of a lifetime. Her cover for her black eye is that she crashed on her four-wheeler; she asks you not to blow her cover. Later that day, your teacher calls you to her desk, tells you she’s worried about your friend, and asks you if you know anything about the black eye. What do you do? / Dilemma #13 - Playoffs
It’s the last game of the playoffs. If your school team wins, you will be state champs for the first time in twenty years. You are equally matched with the team you are playing, and the score is tied. You are up to bat. If you make a home run, your team will win. If not, you will lose the title. You step up to bat with butterflies in your stomach. Your first swing is a strike, but it fires you up for the next one. You watch carefully, swing, and smack the ball to the edge of the field. You take off at a full sprint. First base. Second base. Third base. You’re headed to home base at lightning speed when you see the ball streak by. The catcher grabs it and slams it into your gut just before your foot hits the base. You fall to the ground in defeat then hear the umpire cry, “SAFE!” You look up in surprise. You know the catcher tagged you before you touched the base. What do you do?
