GENERAL MEETING
It was held in July 2008. Thanks to all who participated. This meeting is open to all that want to attend and provide feedback to the Board of Directors. The next general meeting will be held after the 2009 Spring/Summer season. Please check the website for details.
FALL BALL
We had 5 teams playing fall ball this past season. Four teams---18U, 15U, 12U, and 10U in the Greater Pgh. League (GPGSL) and one team 8U in the Beaver County League. Thanks to all who helped coach the teams and helped in the concession stand.
SPONSORS
We are always looking for sponsors. If you or a company you work for would like to sponsor a team, please send us an e-mail or advise one of the board members. As always we will continue to solicit sponsors.
GOLF OUTING
The second annual softball golf outing has been scheduled for June 13, 2009 at the Moon Golf Club. Jerry Testa is chairman for this event. It will include a Chinese auction of baskets made up by each of our spring/summer season teams. The golf outing helps us to raise funds to better support the girls’ softball league.
CONCESSION STAND
This year we will have a person in charge of the concession stand, Ann Eberts. We are also looking for someone to assist her. If you are interested, please advise a Board Member or Ann. The concession stand is a source of income for the league and a convenience for all the teams that play on our 2 softball fields. We always need people to work in the concession stand, and the registration form has a place to volunteer, so please sign up. This year all in-house teams will be responsible for working in the concession stand an equal amount of games. The coaches will set up a schedule for their team and coordinate with Ann Eberts. This will allow for the concession stand to be open for all the games. Thank You in advance for your help.
REGISTRATION
Sign-ups for the spring/summer season will be held on Jan. 31 and Feb. 7 in the Middle School main lobby from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM. This is for walk-in registration. We will also accept mail-in registrations until February 28. A registration form is being mailed with this newsletter to all girls who have played in the prior spring or fall season. Registration forms will also be available thru the Elementary schools and on our website (moon softball.com). You can also contact a board member for a registration form. “PLEASE TRY TO REGISTER ASAP.”
We try to field as many teams as possible, however it all depends on registration numbers. Any requests for a particular team with other players or a particular coach should be noted on the registration form. We cannot always guarantee all requests, but we try our best to satisfy everyone.
SPRING / SUMMER SEASON
The league will be structured similar to years past including both in-house and travel teams. Travel teams will be determined by how many girls sign up for travel teams and if we have a coach for each team. Our in-house leagues will consist of T-Ball (ages 4-5-6), Coach Pitch (8U), Modified Pitch (ages 10-9), and Fast Pitch (ages 11-16). If we have enough girls sign up for in-house Fast Pitch, we may be able to separate into two fast pitch leagues (11 thru 13 and 14 thru 16). It all depends on the number of girls we have registered. There is also a possibility that some in-house teams from other surrounding areas may join our league. This will give us more teams and more fields to play on. This however has not been determined yet. Last season we had about 18 teams between in-house and travel. Let’s try to have more teams this year. We need to know how many girls will be playing in our various leagues in order to schedule games and order uniforms. So please register ASAP. We will try to schedule as many games as possible depending on what fields are available to us this spring.
Also, there is a possibility of a 2009 Softball Tournament in Moon this summer. Check our website for more details to follow.
