Completion Progress bar
The Completion Progress bar has replaced the Progress Bar from previous versions of Moodle.
This guide will help you:
- Add the Completion Progress bar in your course
- Turn on Completion tracking for the course
- Turn on completion tracking for activities
- Configure the Completion progress bar
- Remove your existing Progress Bar
- Adding the Completion Progress bar.
TurnEditing onvia the cog icon menu at the top right of the course page.
The Add a block link is at the bottom of the left navigation menu.
SelectCompletion Progress from the list.
Completion Progress will appear with the other blocks on the right hand side of your course.
Note: completion tracking must be enabled for your course for the Completion Progress bar to work.
- Turn on Completion tracking for the course
Go to Administration menu via the cog icon at top right of screen > Edit settings
Completion tracking > Enable completion tracking > Yes
- Turn on completion tracking for activities
Completion Progress will display any activities with completion tracking enabled for them. You might include Assignment activities, choice, forums, or resources for example.
To activate completion tracking for an activity;
For example: Assessment task #1 (assignment activity) > Edit > Edit settings > Activity completion > choose from ‘students can manually mark the activity as completed’ or ‘show activity as complete when conditions are met’ > then select from the options displayed.
- Configure the Completion progress bar
Click on the little cog icon to open the Completion Progress block menu > choose Configure Completion Progress block
Block settings:
Order bar by > Ordering in course or Time using “Expect completed on” date.
Use icons in bar to display graphic tick or cross.
Activities > Selected activities. This option allows you to choose what displays in the Completion Progress bar. Choose from the list of activities. Note the assignment activity we enabled is displaying here now.Save changes.
- Remove your existing Progress Bar
The Progress Bar will still work in your existing course but it has become unsupported for future versions of Moodle.
To remove your existing Progress bar > click on the little cog wheel to open the block menu > choose delete Progress bar. You will be prompted to confirm that you want to remove it > click Yes.
