Montwood MS RoboticsApplication

Applications are DUE by Wednesday, May 9, 2018. Please turn applications in to Mrs. Brandon in the Montwood Middle Library.

MMS Robotics is a team for students interested in Technology and Robotics. Team members will work on individual and group projects, and compete in district, regional, and First Lego League robotics competitions. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) are core concepts in planning, designing, building, programming, and operating the robots as well as a scientifically based research project.

MMS Robotics is a full year commitment that requires students to be responsible and in good standing with academics, behavior, and attendance. We will participate in several events next year, including a LEGO Robotics challenge through the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) and STEAM festivals. MMS Robotics will require much effort put forth on your part. In order to prepare properly for competitions, meetings may be held before and/or after school.

Students may be asked to purchase supplies, t-shirts, snacks for competition, etc.

Students may be dismissed from Robotics due to grades, behavior, or absences.

If selected for MMS Robotics, I understand that I will:

Maintain my grades with all 80% or higher, and will get help if my grades put me and /or my team in jeopardy. Students will be required to show grade reports on a consistent basis. If low/failing grades are not improved within 2 weeks, students may not be able to continue in MMS Robotics.

Robotics Club members are expected to:

Work to model the First Core Values

  • We are a team.
  • We do the work to find solutions with guidance from our coaches and mentors.
  • We know our coaches and mentors don't have all the answers; we learn together.
  • We honor the spirit of friendly competition.
  • What we discover is more important than what we win.
  • We share our experiences with others.
  • We display Gracious Professionalism™ and Coopertition™ in everything we do.
  • We have FUN!

Attend all or the majority of the meetings/activities (schedule to be announced)

Support the project through innovative and creative thinking

Work as a TEAM!

Have a positive attitude!

I understand that I will be on a developmental team until I am moved by my coaches to a competition team.

I understand I must earn my spot on the competition/travel team.

Please complete and return the following application to Mrs. Brandon in the Montwood Middle Library on or before Wednesday, May 9, 2018.
