SILENT AUCTION RULES

  1. REGISTRATION: Everyone who wishes to bid on auction items must register and receive a bidding number. Registration may take place any time before the first section closes. A family should register together under one number. All bidders must be at least 18 years old. Student bidders must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and must use the bidder number assigned to the family.
  1. BIDDING: Bid sheets are displayed in each section. Minimum opening bids and minimum increase amounts are noted on the bid sheets. Please PRINT CLEARLY your bidding number and the amount you wish to bid on the first available blank line on the bid sheet. Each new bid must be in round dollar amounts equal to or exceeding the bid increase amount shown on the sheet. In general, bids for items less than $30 must be made in $2 increments, less than $75, $5 increments, more than $75, $10 increments. Bids not meeting the minimum opening bid or bid increase will not be valid. All bids are final and may not be erased or crossed out. Bids in any section may be placed until that section closes; however if a bidder commences writing a new bid on the bid sheet, after that section is announced as closed, that last bid will be null and void. The highest bidder at the time the section closes wins the bid.
  1. SECTION CLOSINGS: Sections will close at spaced intervals and closing times are posted in this catalog. As each section closes, bidding must cease. Participants will be asked to clear the areas where the section has closed. Auction volunteers will then highlight the winning bidder on each bid sheet.
  1. CHECKOUT: After the final section has closed, winning bidders will redeem their bids at the checkout table. Bidders must be present at checkout time to claim winning bids, or have designated someone (upon registration) to collect their items and make their payment. If the winning bidder is not present, an item may be awarded to the next highest bidder. Payment in full is required before items may be collected. You may pay by cash or check payable to MK/PC PTA. No credit cards are accepted. All items must be paid for in full on the day of the auction.
  1. TAX DEDUCTIONS: This catalog lists a value for each auction item. In some cases these stated values are estimates specified by the donor. They are intended to assist participants in placing their bids. If you pay more for an item than the estimated value, you may claim as a tax deduction the amount paid above the listed value.
  1. GIFT CERTIFICATES: Most limitations of particular gift certificates are listed in catalog descriptions. Gift certificates are for merchandise or services and are not redeemable for cash, in whole or in part. Generally, gift certificates do not include tax or gratuity. Please read specifications and limitations carefully. Please contact individual donors within 30 days of the auction to inform them of your intentions for redeeming goods and services.

PLEASE NOTE: All items have been donated! All sales are final, and everything is sold “as is”. Every effort has been made to describe items as accurately as possible based on the donors’ description. The MK/PC PTA bears no responsibility should any donated item be unsatisfactory or invalid because of changes in a business’s operations.
