  1. Confirmation of Minutes of Monthly Meeting held on the 17th February 2014

The minutes of the Area Committee meeting held on the 17thFebruary 2014 were confirmed on the proposal of Cllr J.V. Farrelly and seconded by Cllr O. Fox.

  1. Reports

Housing

A report was circulated.

Members enquired about the private sites still available in Loughcrew View and if any plans for these.

Area Administrator to enquire with housing for an update.

Sanitary

A report was circulated to the members.

It was advised that outstanding screening works at the Kilmainhamwood works.

Update on the Oldcastle watermains – to refer to Sanitary services for an update.

Roads

A report was circulated to the members.

A request was made to have Oristown-Martry Roadfinished near the Martry pitch as parts of the road was resurfaced under the CIS.

Ms. Beers replied that there are engineering reasons for choosing the roads in the programme. She advised that the tender documents are ready to go out.

It was agreed to review this on the proposal of Cllr Farrelly and seconded by Cllr Reilly.

Members discussed obtaining contractors to fill potholes should potential funding become available. Engineer advised that potholes are only done on roads that are graded 5-6 and these may not be the worse roads. The worst roads would need to be resurfaced.

If a road is scheduled for restoration and some parts of the road not as bad as others, is there flexibility to move funds to another part of the road.

Engineer replied that this could be looked at.

Enquiry about the Patching Machine and if it’s still in operation.

Ms. Beers replied that it was out of commission and with the changes in Health & Safety, to use the machine now would require setting up traffic management with a crew and signage.

Traffic calming update in Oldcastle & Dromone and ramps in St Brigids Terrcace.

Engineer replied that a survey has been carried out for the design of the traffic calming measures and the tender is due to go out for ramps.

Flooding at NewcastleChurch – needs a drain across the road to clear it.

Enquiry about the amount of CIS applications received.

  • 43 in total and 32 of which for Kells Area.
  • CIS being dealt with by Transportation Section who are currently assessing the applications.
  • Can more than one contractor do the CIS works to get them completed on time.
  • Engineer advised that need to get CIS agreed with applicants and get works started. Road works programme to start mid-May.
