MOLE DAY EXTRA CREDITPROJECTS

“Mole Wars; May the Moles Be With You”

Here is a list of the following Mole Day projects for your Mole Day extra credit assignment. PICK ONE of the following (in addition to food). You may earn up to15 extra credit points!!!!

  • Create a Mole themed board game– come up with questions and answers that test your peers’ mole knowledge. You must include the object of the game, rules, equipment, etc. (15 pts)
  • Make a Mole-a-Rama-use the Mole template to make a stuffed mole out of cotton and fabric or some kind of fur. The Stuffed Mole must be at least five and a half inches or larger. The mole should have a theme, with a background, costume and props.(15 pts)
  • Create a Mole Day Poster – Use the theme for this year: Mole Wars, to create a Poster to decorate for mole day (10 pts)
  • Create a Chemistry Help Poster (max size 11”x15”) that describes a difficult Chem. Concept that we have learned so far (ie: naming and formula writing, % error, % composition, empirical or molecular formulas, etc.) to be hung in the room as an extra resource (10 pts)
  • Mole Tune- Write a song/rap about the Mole. Song can be video recorded or performed live. Please provide a typed out copy of the lyrics and include the name of the original song that you are using for this project, or write your own. You can use the music from a song, but please create original lyrics. (must be at least 30 lines long, not including any repeating choruses). (15 pts)
  • Mole Madness Poem- Write and perform an original poem about the mole. Poem must be at least 30 lines long. Poem should be presented on a decorative poster to be hung in the classroom. (15 pts)
  • Comic/ Story Book-Design a comic book or story book about a scientist you've researched, or a parody of your favorite comic book with Chemistry/ Mole Day themes and your scientist or scientists. (must be at least a 15 pages, with 8” x 11” pages , with colored graphics and printed dialogue (at least 4 sentences per page).(15 pts)
  • Mole Day T-Shirt-Design, create, and wear your very own Mole Day Shirt. The shirt should have a theme and incorporate mole concepts. (15 pts)
  • Bring in “Mole”-themed food to snack on during Mole-Day activities (ie: Guaca-mole-e, Moleasses cookies, Chocomolate brownies, etc) – be sure to include a new label indicating the Molerific name for your snack and nutritional information. (2 pts)
  • Food is due Thursday, October 22nd

*Assignments must be original and acceptable for a school environment. Projects will be handed in on October 23rd!
