MADELEINE AND MIKKO
This exceptional duo brings together American cellist Madeleine Shapiro and Finnish classical accordionist Mikko Luoma. The accordion and cello create a unique sound world. Madeleine and Mikko share a commitment to the exploration of this world by encouraging the creation of new works and presenting performances on the highest interpretative level. Their repertoire ranges from works written within the last 20 years to new works written specifically for the duo. Madeleine and Mikko are comfortable as soloists as well as chamber musicians and their programs mix solos and duos to create a diverse and exciting evening, interspersing pairings of solo works by the same composer with duo performances.
