Mission statement: Caring for People

As an organisation the mission statement is at our core. This is reflected in the way the clients, the staff, the clients’ families, the committee members and directors, the local community and the various stakeholders are treated.

Equality

We are committed to a policy of equality encompassing colour, race, nationality,

We are therefore committed to ensuring that, as service provider,

all our actions and activities are genuinely available and accessible to all potential participants and that our initiatives do not have a negative impact on any disadvantaged groups

Behaviour

Whilst in the Centre clients are treated with utmost respect and as much as is feasible we endeavour to realize all requests made.

Caring

We care for our clients to improve the quality of their lives and help them live as independent a life as long a possible. At all times whilst clients are in the Day Care, or traveling to the Centre via a Day Care car, they are cared for to the best of the centre’s ability.

Confidentially

All information pertaining to a client of a confidential nature is kept only with the management of the centre, unless circumstances require it to be disclosed. Staff are obliged to report any information that would impact on the welfare of client visiting centre.

Management

The Day Care Centre is managed in a way that cognisant of its origins and the vital role it has within the wider community. Management of the Centre aims to reflect a Christian ethos of understanding, tolerance, transparency, participation and cooperation.

Accountability

The management is answerable to the Directors and members of Dromcollogher Day Care Centre Ltd..

Supporting local business

The policy of the Day Care Centre is to support local indigenous industries and sourcing of materials for the Centre starts with business within Dromcollogher and then working outwards.

Support other community services

The Day Care Centre works with other local and regional community facilities.

Service

Whilst the clients are being transported and within the confines of the Day Care Centre, we endeavour to care for them to the best of our ability, to this end we provide a range of suitable and appropriate services.

Qualifications, training and recruitment

We aim to be a meritocracy organisation and participate in recruitment of FAS staff and volunteers. We believe strongly in training of staff, as this will lead to an enhanced service and more motivated staff. We, when possible, support training of individuals, within organizations and schools.

Health & Safety

It is the policy of Dromcollogher Day Care Centre to promote high standards of health and safety within the Centre and to ensure that the best practicable methods of compliance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and associated legislation are achieved.

Respect & dignity

Dromcollogher Day Care Centre is committed to the promotion of an environment for work which upholds the dignity and respect of clients so they can visit the centre knowing it is an environment which is free of any form of harassment, intimidation or bullying.

Every person working in conjunction with Dromcollogher Day Care Centre likewise is entitled to be treated with dignity and respect by our clients.

Promotion

The Dromcollogher Day Care Centre strives to promote the welfare of its clients via constantly exploring new services and promote its availability of the services it already provides within the community.


Procedures

Review

The mission statement is reviewed on an annual base, and the policies and procedures are reviewed every three years.

Admission

Admission is controlled by contacting Centre office at 063 83415 and is open to all retired people. Most clients are over 65 but clients’ circumstance are taken into account and exceptions are made. See appendix 1 admission form

Behaviour

All disrespectful behaviour or complaints thereof is thoroughly investigated and were appropriated disciplinary action is taken. See appendix 2 report sheet

Caring

We provide a range of caring services. These include transporting to Day Care Centre, transport to shops, bank, and post office, catering, massage therapy, chiropody, exercise, bingo, cards, music, dancing, and socialising. More information available at dromcollogher.yolasite.com

Confidentially

All information pertaining to a client is kept securely. All welfare concerns are reported to the relevant authorities all staff are garda vetted.

Management

The Day Care Centre liaises with local stakeholders including local medical professionals, HSE, Ballyhoura and West Limerick Resource Leader Groups, and other relevant interested parties.

The management of the Day Care works in conjunction with the FÁS Project and volunteers in the staffing of the Centre.

Accountability

There are at least 10 meeting a year of Dromcollogher Day Care Centre and a set of audited accounts are produced.

Supporting local business

The Day Care Centre sources most of its materials within the confines of the town and surrounding area.

Support other community services

The Day Care Centre works with other local and regional community facilities in particular our sister organisation Dromcollogher Respite Care Centre, Dromcollogher Social Housing (for elderly), and Broadford Day Care Centre.

Qualifications, training and recruitment

Presently the majority of staff working in the Day Care Centre are on CE FAS Project which provides training for staff we help that by providing a premises to run training and support this in any way we can.
