Mission Mississippi Partnership with FCA

Responsibilities: Determine the plans for “Mississippi Glowing For Christ” - communicate and execute.

It is to begin on August 7 at the capital with the governor and end on October27 at Memorial Stadium with celebration. A security car, either deputy sheriff or highway patrol will escort the cross carriers.

-Will establish location for each county meeting – either courthouse or a church.

-An athlete, coach or staff will be chosen by FCA Staff to give a brief testimony at each service.

-Notify State Superintendent’s office and the mayor’s association concerning the event.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve on Core Planning Committee.
  • Communicate vision for “Mississippi Glowing For Christ”.
  • Help Identify county coordinators for 82 counties.
  • Collect names, email, and phone numbers for FCA Staff, County Coordinators, Student President and Sponsors of FCA Huddle for communication purposes.
  • Call County Coordinators 7 days in advance of the cross being in their county.
  • Coordinate with Mission Mississippi Coordinator for details on celebration service in each county – time, location, and program.

County Coordinator

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

Partnership with Mission Mississippi

We are praying God would raise up strong Christian leaders in each of the 82 counties in Mississippi – a person willing to give of their time and experience in helping FCA organize moving a lighted cross through their county.

Responsibility:

  1. Work with FCA Staff in your county in identifying and keeping up with schools who will want to participate in this opportunity.
  2. Collect name, email address, and pone numbers of FCA contact with each school.
  3. Relay information from county to state coordinator.
  4. Follow up with Mission Mississippi County Coordinator for celebration services (identified on schedule).
  5. Organize and communicate with schools as to location in which they are to have responsibility for carrying the cross. (Include time)

FCA Staff Responsibilities:

  • Identify a county coordinator. Ask for help if needed
  • Communicate with schools in your district
  • Go over details with Huddle Coach – date school will be involved. If date conflicts with your sport identify a coach to assist you
  • Collect name, email, phone number, of coach and assistance. Also collect student president of huddle.
  • Be sure huddle coach has fund raising double mailers to discuss with kids.
  • Identify in advance students who will carry the cross from county line to city – to county line.
  • Encourage student huddle and student body to participate by joining on Main Street to walk with the cross to county meeting place.

Huddle Coach Responsibilities:

  • Communicate vision for “Mississippi Glowing for Christ”.
  • Identify in advance students who will carry the cross from county line to city – to county line.
  • Encourage student huddle and student body to participate by joining on Main Street to walk with the cross to county meeting place.
  • Explain to students the challenge to raise the most support for FCA in competition with other schools in the county. (Money will be used for Bibles, Camp Scholarships and Staff Budgets)
  • Explain 2- way mailer – student will be encouraged to bring a minimum of 10 names and addresses to meeting. Address and mail at meeting. (Example of 2-way mailer attached)
  • Special pizza party for school that raises the most money in county.
