Mission Interpretation/Social Action Working Group
International Peacemaker, Mphatso Nguluwe, Malawi
The New Brunswick Presbytery will welcome Mphatso Mary Nguluwe from Malawi during the period of October 9th through October 16th.
“Ms. Mphatso Mary Nguluwe serves as Director of the Livingstonia Synod Aids Programme (LISAP) for the Church of Central Africa, Presbyterian, Synod of Livingstonia (CCAPL). In her work, she has implemented initiatives which aim at promoting the quality of life for children living with HIV, among them the “Prevention of Parents to Child Transmission of HIV,” an initiative whose goal is to ensure an HIV free generation. She also promotes gender equity and equality for boys and girls, works to prevent child trafficking and serves as a researcher in community development work. Ms. Mphatso is a founding member of a girls and boys empowerment initiative funded by the Scottish Government & Tearfund UK aimed at eliminating the cultural practices which put girls at risk of multiple abuses as well as HIV infection. She serves as Vice Board Chairperson of the Malawi Scotland Partnership, the Fishers Trainers & Senders Ministries and the Coalition of Gender HIV & AIDS in Malawi. She holds degrees in Midwifery from Queens University of Belfast, Northern Ireland and in Nursing Education, Administration & Community Nursing Science from Medunsa, South Africa.”
Mphatso will be hosted by the Mission Interpretation/Social Witness Working Group during her stay with us. Her schedule so far is:
Arrival, Newark International Airport on Monday, October 9th, in the evening.
Tuesday, October 10th, Princeton Seminary, Lunch with Princeton Seminary students in the Main Lounge of the Mackay Campus Center, 12:00 to 1:30;
Tuesday, October 10th, Meeting of the Presbytery of New Brunswick, Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church, 5:30 to its end;
Wednesday, October 11th, NYC with Ted and Jane Settle morning to early afternoon;
Wednesday, October 11th, Dinner and Meeting, Pennington Presbyterian Church, 6:00 pm to 8:30;
Thursday, October 12th not scheduled so far;
Friday, October 13th, Witherspoon Street Presbyterian Church with Joan Tomlin, for an evening of prayer, fellowship, music, potluck supper and conversation. The program will be from 6:30 to 9:00;
Saturday, October 14th, speaker at the Presbyterian Women Annual Fall Gathering, meeting from 9:30 – noon at the Taiwanese American Fellowship Presbyterian Church (770 Rt. 206, Hillsborough);
Saturday, October 14th, Presbyterian Church Bound Brook, 5 pm worship service; potluck dinner following;
Saturday, October 14th, Casa del Banquete, Hispanic Church that meets in the Presbyterian Church Bound Brook, to bring greetings from Malawi.
Sunday, October 15th, joint worship service, Ewing and Covenant Churches from 9:30 to 11:45;
Sunday, October 15th, brunch, Nassau Presbyterian Church, 12:15 to 1:15.
Sunday afternoon, rest, wash clothes if needed, and pack
Monday, October 16th return to Louisville for debriefing before returning home.
