Somerset banner to be handed over tonight?
11.Coaching
Course details are on the EA website
RB asked whether the County AA could, once again, help sponsor the winter coaching courses arranged by SSAA.
This item to be included on the next agenda for discussion.
12. Officials
This item corrected 19.11.2014
South West Inter-Counties T & F Championships 2014.
Exeter Track was not fully ready for competition with no Pole Vault (incorrect uprights and no rails! - binned by contractor when clearing the site) amongst a number of items not accurately prepared.
It would have been useful to have had more officials as a number of those expected did not turn up on the day. Somerset provided about 10% of the officials and helpers.
Nick & I have sent a formal report to Sonya Ellis and Keith Reed, including a proposed improved timetable, for better competing and officiating conditions.
Courses.
Full details of ALL discipline Courses to be held at Yeovil on Saturday 15th November are on the England Athletics website, through which applications must be made. Tutors have been allocated for all disciplines including Health & Safety & Generic modules.
UKA has decreed that officials have to be 16yrs. to become Level 2a as the DBS form needs to be verified from that age. 14-15yrs. old may still do Courses but cannot receive Level 2a qualification or licence until they are 16yrs. Their paperwork prior to thismay stillbe used as it is valid for 2years.
Annual Record of Experience.
Those for Level 2c and above need to be sent to Barry Parker by tonight with a copy to . Failure to comply could affect officiating opportunities in the future. The remainder should be sent to me and kept for future reference.
Upgradings.
There have been no further upgradings since the July Meeting. However, Amy D'Arcy has been put forward to UKA as a candidate for the Junior Official of the Year Category for this year's award ceremony.
Indoor Meetings.
For those of you who do not fancy the rough outside during the winter, The Welsh Indoor availability is now on their website and the Midlands is expected shortly.
However, Ilook forward to hearingthe South West Indoors details soon.
South West Council.
Given that Somerset County AA is under the umbrella of the Council, it would appear that theCouncilare not interested in Counties as no information appears to be filtered down. This cannot be right and requires a strong response by the County to clarify the role and responsibilities of the Council.
DC adds
The committee were pleased to hear of Amy d’Arcy’s contributions at the ESAA championships.
She has been nominated for a UKA award for junior officials.
