Attendance
Apologies / Anne McLennan (Melton City Libraries), Pam Howard and Michala Underwood (Goldfields Library Corporation), David Harding (City of Yarra), Rita Hardy (Moreland Libraries), Helen Pickersgill (Central Highlands), Ellie Beer (Hepburn) Ann Paul (Mornington Peninsula), Jackie Brown (Moonee Valley Library Service), Sue Robertson (Melton City Council Library Service), Cath Lukin (Geelong Regional Library Corporation), David Harding (Yarra Libraries)
Mary Eaton (Corangamite Regional Library Corporation), Wendy Kerr (Indigo Shire), Linda Sktory (Darebin), Lilly Chorny (Melbourne), Libby Stewart (Monash), Katharine Gronow (Hobsons Bay) and Margot Robson (Stonnington)
1. Confirmation of minutes and business arising from last meeting / Cath Lukin reported on personal safety alarms and apps that are available and included:
SafeTCard (below)

This was thought to be the best option for those working in isolation or high risk areas with 24hr emergency alert and duress alarm, GPS tracking and many more features. It can also double as ID pouch/lanyard and can be discreetly activated and allow colleagues or other emergency contacts to hear conversations.
MCare Watches

This device looks like an ordinary watch but has many features of a smartphone keeping wearers connected at all times. An SOS button dials 3 pre-set phone numbers in emergencies; it features real-time GPS tracking and mobile phone capability.
An outright plan of $399 (watch $299 and SIM card with 12 months voice, SMS data plan) or a monthly subscription plan of $39.
Cath also highlighted apps such as Find My iPad, Daniel Morcombe App and information can be found online for these and others that may best suit individual needs.
2. Convenor Nominations / Nominations were called for the role of convenor for the next 12 months.
Cath Lukin (Geelong Regional Library Corporation) and David Harding (Yarra Libraries) both expressed an interest in the role. / Vote / Next meeting
3. Statistics Reporting (PLVN) / There is a concern that statistical data provided to PLVN is not consistent.
Management systems vary in the way they collate data and do not always give a true indication of stock turnover. For example bulk loans to aged care/special accommodation facilities where turnover is not collated within the facilities.
More accurate figures would highlight the demand on housebound services – the most time consuming of library tasks.
4. Other Business
5. Round Table Discussion / A question was raised regarding volunteers and insurance coverage.
It appears that insurance companies will not cover volunteers when using their own vehicles to deliver housebound services.
Some library services (or councils) are able to provide a vehicle for volunteers.
RFID and how its effect on the home module was discussed.
There was a concern that a patron’s loan history was not available when using kiosks. Parameters need to be set initially on Library Management System. Need to confirm with IT staff.
6. Tour of Library and Lunch / Viv Newton (Manager, Bendigo Library) gave a tour of the refurbished library.
Bendigo is the largest of the Goldfields Libraries with regional services (E.g.: Mobile Library, Programs) and Housebound Services also operating from the building.
