Minutes of the conference call (Dec 23rd 2007 - 10:30 PM CST).

Attendees: Siddamma, Savitha, Bharath and Santhosh.

- Siddamma was on her way to the affected villages but had stopped at a tsunami

affected village (Sami Nagar) and she was taking the call from there.

- Not all the flood affected villages were tsunami affected.

- Palayamkottai : Main profession is rat catching. Most affected because every year

after rains, they have to re-build their houses.

- As of today, the relief funds that is required is Rs.64,200 /-. Here is the break-up :

Food cost/per family for 10 days:

Rice - 15Kilos x 17 Rs./Kg = Rs. 255

Daal - 2kilos x 60 Rs./Kg = Rs. 120

Oil - 1 lt = Rs.80

Chilli powder,mustard seed, jeera, salt etc. = Rs. 80

Tamarind = Rs. 30

Transportantion of supplies(when split amongst all families) = Rs. 35

Total = Rs. 600.

Total Immediate food cost for all families for 10 days = 107 x 600 = Rs. 64,200

- These items have already been ordered. One supply of these items will be delivered

today (Dec 24). Second supply will happen tomorrow. All these areas are not easily

accessible. So, the truck carries these foods upto a point after which it is delivered

by hand.

- There is no other help from any other organization as of today. Siddamma has

asked for help with food primarily but most people have gone on

vacations/holidays. Local police is trying to help too.

- Local collectors are difficult to get hold of and need a lot of follow-up.

- Some clothes are available from thiruvalur office.

- There is a local scheme that promises Rs.2000 for affected families but to access

these funds, there are criteria that has to be met and will take time before we

access these funds.
