The Development Commissioner, VSEZ and Chair Person, Approval Committee welcomed the Members and apprised them briefly about the proposals placed before the Committees for their consideration. The items listed in the Agenda were discussed and following decisions were taken.

Agenda Item No.1: Ratification of the Minutes of the meeting held on 06.06.2011

The proposal was deferred.

Agenda Item No. 4: Request of M/s 24 X 7 Interactive Media Private Limited (VSEZ Unit) for approval of services for exemption from payment of service tax on taxable services required to carry out authorized operations.

The Approval Committee noted the Unit’s submission that they do not own or carry any business other than operation in SEZs. Since the Unit does not own or carry any business other than operations in SEZ, the Unit is entitled for ab-initio exemption in respect of the following services relating to authorized operations in terms of Notification No. 17/2011-Service Tax dated 1.3.2011.

Agenda item No. 7: Proposal of M/s. S&S Garment Accessories India Private Limited for setting up a Unit in BIACPL SEZ

The Proposal was discussed and approved.

Agenda Item No. 8: Performance review of M/s. Brandix Apparel India Private Limited upto the year 2009-10.

Approval Committee discussed the proposal and opined that as per the clarification provided by the Unit, the Unit is undertaking manufacturing service activity. Therefore, the Unit be advised to approach the Approval Committee for change in activity.

The Committee also directed to recheck the NFE calculation in view of the clarification given by the Unit.
