MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL MEETING OF SEAHAM TOWN COUNCIL HELD ON 14TH MAY, 2010

1.DISCLOSURE OF INTERESTS
Members were reminded prior to the start of the meeting of the need to disclose any
interests, prejudicial or personal, in accordance with the Code of Conduct.
2.REMARKS BY RETIRING MAYOR
Councillor Mrs. Jennifer Bell, as the retiring Mayor, extended a warm welcome to all Councillors and visitors present at the Annual Meeting of Seaham Town Council. The Mayor stated that she had enjoyed the last twelve months. She thanked everyone for their support during what had been a busy year and stated that it had been a privilege to represent the town as Mayor. She also wished the new Mayor every success in his year of Office.
3.ELECTION OF MAYOR OF SEAHAM TOWN COUNCIL FOR THE ENSUING YEAR
RESOLVED that Councillor Brian Allen be elected as Mayor of Seaham Town Council for the ensuing year.
4.SIGNING OF THE DECLARATION OF ACCEPTANCE OF OFFICE BY THE NEWLY ELECTED MAYOR
Councillor Brian Allen then signed the declaration of Acceptance of Office of Mayor for Seaham Town Council in the presence of the Town Clerk. The retiring Mayor, Councillor Mrs. Bell then handed over the Chain of Office to the new Mayor and vacated the Chair, and the retiring Mayor’s Consort, Councillor Edward Bell presented the Chain of Office to the new Mayoress.

5PRESENTATION OF GIFT TO RETIRING MAYOR AND CONSORT
The new Mayor expressed his thanks to fellow Councillors on his election and said he would do his best to serve the residents of Seaham in this role. Councillor Brian Allen then extended to the retiring Mayor and Consort, Councillors Mrs. Jennifer and Edward
Bell his thanks on behalf of the Council for the hard work they had done in the past year for Seaham. As a gesture to recognise their work, the Mayor then presented Councillors Mrs. Jennifer and Edward Bell with a gift which he hoped would bring back many happy memories of their year of Office.
6.ELECTION OF DEPUTY MAYOR FOR THE ENSUING YEAR
RESOLVED that Councillor Mrs. Barbara Ramshaw be elected as Deputy Mayor of Seaham Town Council for the ensuing year. The Mayor then presented the Deputy Mayor with her Badge of Office.
7.MINUTES OF THE LAST COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON 21ST APRIL, 2010
RESOLVED that the Minutes of this meeting, a copy of which had been previously printed and circulated to each Member, be approved and signed as a correct record by the Mayor.
8.REPORTS OF SERVICE COMMITTEES
RESOLVED that the reports of the following Committees, copies of which had been previously printed and circulated to each Member, be approved:-
a)Report of Parks and Recreation Committee held on 28th April, 2010;
b)Report of Arts and Information Committee held on 28th April, 2010;
c)Report of Planning and Environmental Committee held on 4th May, 2010;
d)Report of Finance and General Purposes Committee held on 4th May, 2010, and
e) Report of Special Twinning Committee held on 4th May, 2010.
9.ELECTION OF COMMITTEES AND SUB-COMMITTEES
RESOLVED that the composition of all Committees and Sub-Committees be as follows
for the ensuing year.
