Resolutions:

Constitutional Change

There was a proposal that the function of Match Organiser between the League and the K/O Cup be split and the appropriate amendments to the Constitution made. As custodian of the Constitution and Rules, Philip Mitcheson responded by saying that the present Constitution reflected the position as it had been for many years. However, it would be relatively simple to divide the Match Organiser’s functions, but clarification was needed as to the role of the subsequent K/O Cup organiser. Was he to have a voice at Executive Committee level (ie be an Officer) or not (ie be a non-executive officer)? Ernie Lazenby commented that he did not think the Constitution needed to be changed. The proposal was prompted by a particular member only being prepared to undertake the role of Match Organiser if his duties were confined to the League. The Constitution already allowed a member to be co-opted to assist any Officer in fulfilling any task. Philip Mitcheson confirmed this. Peter Ridsdale then volunteered to run the K/O Cup and was unanimously appointed by the meeting to carry out this role. The proposed resolution to amend the Constitution was withdrawn without dissent.

Change to CCA Membership

After some discussion, in which consideration was given to membership of the NCCU MO, it was agreed that Cleveland should run its own MO and that any CCA registered player must be either a Direct ECF Member or a member of an MO.

He highlighted the distances needing to be travelled for the club competition, rivalries with different associations, and general problems in the running of the organisation. Nevertheless, he still supported the need to belong to it for a number of reasons – e.g. County Championships; Club Championship; promising juniors. The meeting accepted continuing CCA membership of NCCU.
