Remarks

Old Business:1. Legacy email addresses – most are set-up. Alex will send an email to Kelsey at the national office about people in the next phase – Harry, George, Rob & Fred

2. Equipment purchases – not buying anything; there was a suggestion to purchase an i-pad w/wi-fi for meet management – for checking membership when necessary.

3. Association Workshop – August 15 thru 17, 2014 in Sacramento. Gary will be attending.

New business:

  1. Association Convention – September 19th – MC – Harry & Rob
  2. Legal requests for athlete & athletic information – system of giving out information about legal requests must flow through the President.

Committee Reports:

Track & Field (Rich) – all meets set up except July 9.

Any objections to going out to Longwood in Coram? – traffic during the week; # of athletes; feels that mentoring of young officials should continue.

LDR (Alex) –next meeting is June 16th – subject will be XC schedule; 8K Championships was 6/1 in New Hyde Park; next race Diamond Dash 6/14

Race Walk (Mary Ann & Gary) –MariaMichta ranked 30th in the world. Has the Olympic standard and the World Championship standard. Would like to plan a 10K race

MUT (Carl) – absent

Masters (Rob) –sent out Grand Prix brochure – change to top 3 men and top 3 women from top 5 overall; Eastern Regionals in MD – Rob will go to check it out. Alex will put together a brochure for Rob to give out.

Youth Athletics (Sheryl) – Association meet – may not be able to do javelin, cannot do hammer; Rich will take care of the FAT timing. Association cannot mandate # of officials at any sanctioned meet hosted by a club or organization, it is the responsibility of meet management.

Athletics for Disabled (Fred) – Victory Games – athletes from all over the country, but he cannot find the results. From the President – project for the summer – Fred to request information from NassauCounty about the games.

- wants to know where the competitive groups are; lend assistance to non-competitive groups

Officials (George) –Bellmore meet – little hiccup at start, but went well; Rolling Thunder – 7 officials were requested and 7 officials were sent; LI Festival – knew it was going to be a disaster because only 3 officials were requested there was no response to any sent emails. Suggested that non-assigned officials must be notified that they were not assigned and therefore not working the specific meet.

Steve Cuomo from Rolling Thunder requested a grievance hearing because he requested 7officials for his meet and 9 officials showed up. He feels he was forced into putting the extra officials to work.

Officials for June 9, June 22, July 2 & all summer meets – to be finalized. Alex feels there is a need for a certification class for weights & measures – Gary to look into it.

Records (Alex) – Record 8K Road Championships W35-39 age group – Tara Wilson

Coaching Education (Fred) – Level 1 School set – 27 currently registered – hoping for over 100

Suggestion – make up flyers for meets. There is an Emerging Elite coaches training in July in Shula Vista
