In attendance: Mr. Filkosky, Brenda Carles, Terri Johnson, Amber Lewis, Lianna Salisbury, Kaleen Wolfe, Nikki Hemminger, Mrs. Franco, various parents

1.  First PTO meeting-no minutes to approve

2.  Treasurer’s report-Terri

·  Planners and folders given out to each grade

·  Kindergarten escrow account-comes from a CD with kindergarten pictures

·  5-6 grade escrow-earned through walk-a-thon

·  McTeacher night-pays for fall assembly

·  PSSA testing escrow-snacks during PSSA week

·  Playground fund-Katy Pope working on a grant from Lowe’s; committee meeting next week

·  General fund-it costs around $30,000 a year to pay for expenses

·  Budget update to go home with each student

4.  New business

·  Community nights-to occur once a month at local businesses/restaurants-part of proceeds will go to the PTO

Chili’s-September 29-will benefit playground fund

Other suggestions-5 Below, Texas Roadhouse, Hoss’s, Playtime Pottery, Sweet Frog, Chipotle, Chuck E. Cheese’s, TGI Friday’s, Applebees, Martin’s, Dominos

·  Boscov’s fundraiser-October 18-proceeds go to playground fund

·  Polar Bear Plunge-Canoe Creek

·  Father/daughter dance-Valentine’s Day

·  Mother/son baseball game-spring

·  Picture Day-Dale Manning-went smoothly-makeups are on October 6

·  Martin’s/Giant Eagle signups-in process

·  Sam’s Club-extra box tops with scanned receipt, box top competition will be in October

·  Spirit Wear-locker room

Orders to be back before homecoming

·  Donations-books for RED, small toys for AR store, gift bags for Holiday Shop

·  Homecoming-October 7-3rd grade to decorate signs and ride on a float-candy donations to be sent in

·  Playground committee-September 28 at 4:00

·  President’s Council-meeting with Dr. Gildea to talk about district issues

Temperature in buildings is being discussed at the school board

District goals-curriculum, technology, looking to improve

Chrome books

Lice-parents notified via messenger after 3 cases within a week

·  Mrs. Franco-thanks for the chrome book carts

·  Substitute shortage

·  Send appreciation to kindergarten teacher

·  Lisa Brenneman-question about what committees/volunteer opportunities require clearances, Mr. Filkosky to look into it and get list for next PTO meeting
