Minutes for CFA-SFSU eboard meeting, 11/14/17
Present: Sheba, Nestor, Ann, Tendai, Maureen, Sheila, James, Catherine. No quorum.

No approval of minutes and agenda.
--Shiba reported on SQE. They are planning an event about Trump. They are also looking for a safe place for self defense classes for students. They are very concerned about housing. They are running a student survey about housing and looking at ideas about getting shelter for homeless students.
--EO 1100/1110 Problem with moving lecturers from English to other fields is that they would lose their entitlement. Also loss of 2nd year focus on writing. Need to coordinate with other campuses, faculty senate and so forth.
--Dept. rep update. Lots of elections being conducted. Ron is figuring out how to run elections.
Recruiting tool; only members can vote.
--Membership update. 5 new members via GOTV for contract extension.
Need for reps from counseling, librarians, coaches. Would join eboard so has to be an election. Karla Castillo running for counselors.
--treasurer’s report. We have $86,000
in 2016-17 we spent $9K on donations, $8K on membership.
This year so far we’ve spent $7,450 on donations, $8,443 on membership.
Need to pay labor council membership fees.
Need a workshop for applying for range elevations for lecturers
And up to date list of who is eligible.
Sheila sent a letter to all members who are eligible.
Need a follow up to people who are denied in order to appeal.
--FRP report. Grievance summit idea.
--CAA report on holiday mixer on Dec 7th. 4:30-6 Humanities Reading Room. Yumi drafting an email. Lists from Susan Chen.
Sheila: model of CAA statewide: recruit based on diversity model. Expand list. Tendai: people are more likely to respond to a more targeted email. Not just a general invitation.
--minutes on website. Only post approve minutes.
--rapid response team to posters and other issues. Use Bay Resistance model of a texting tree.
Use dept. reps as that rapid response team.
--meeting with Pres. Wong. James will email Pres. Wong asking for a rapid response procedure. Practical issues about dealing with posters.
--Neoliberalism conference May 4th. Space secured in Seven Hills.
Make flyers with design students. Nestor: Chicago model. Get K-12 folks involve. Sheila Jobs with Justice too.
Plan for realistic costs, CFA central office might not give money. Include honoraria.
--3rd SQE intern. No quorum so will have an electronic vote.
--other office employee. Maureen posting ad. Chapter Pres and field rep must do interviews.
--housing issue. 5 percent annual raise. James will coordinate with Nancy Gerber on joint response.
Joseph Smook housing rights committee. Coordinate with SQE.
--Tickets for Job with Justice gala still available.
--public bank group. Keep city’s money in public investments.
--Jonathan Karpf doing pension workshop at SFSU on Feb 28th 12-3:30 in 121 Library.
--Celebration of Native American mural tomorrow 6-9 pm.
