1Approval of agenda

The agenda was agreed.

2Minutes from previous meetings

The minutes from previous meeting were approved.

3Update of ENTSO-E

Lucy informed that she had got a presentation from ETSO/TF-EDI with information related to ENTSO-E. The current proposal for organisation structure is shown below:

It is discussed if the InformationManagement group should be moved below the Market group. There are nowhere mentioned anything related to the retail market and it seems that ebIX may still live for a long time.

4IECvs. ebIX

Lucy informed about a mail from Rudolf:

IEC TC57 WG14 has published a draft standard IEC 61968-9 Ed. 1.0: System Interfaces for Distribution Management - Part 9: Interface Standard for Meter Reading and Control under the reference: 57/946/cdv.

We (ebIX) are in the opinion that this standard is valid for the North American electricity market but not for the European electricity market.

In this respect we propose to accept the standard document 57/946/cdv but request to have a reference to the European ebIX standard documents regarding Meter data exchange. Therefore we have prepared a corresponding IEC comment document.

We advise you urgent to provide this comment document with your Country code asap to your national IEC TC57 office for sending it to the IEC office in Geneva.

This will allow us to bring the actual ebIX standards to the international community as an already implemented standard for meter data exchange. The procedure has been elaborated with the involved IEC responsible.

IMPORTANT: you have to send it until next Monday to your national IEC TC57 office, because the deadline is 30 of October for IEC comments on this draft.

Netherlands, Norway and Switzerland have already sent in the comment and Filip informed that there are no Belgian members of IEC/TC57.

5Comments and update of the ebIX Methodology

5.1Walkthrough ebIX methodology

A review and update of the methodology was the main item on the meeting. The whole document was reviewed, but there are still several open questions. The review will be continued on the next meeting. Some comments from the review:

  • Kees noted that we will have to specify how to handle Processability error reports when using the transaction patterns Information distribution or Notification.
  • Chapter 6 will be removed from the first publication of ebIX Methodology version 2.

The draft document is attached.

5.2XML transformations

Kees showed the latest EMD models and related XML schemas. The schemas have been generated by a new XML transformation tool. The tool is based on the UN/CEFACT rules, which among others specifies the following 4 schema types:

ACCUN/CEFACT Aggregate Core Components
The ACCs are not used in the generation of XML schemas, but as a sort of controlled vocabulary

ABIEUN/CEFACT Aggregate Business Information Entities, based on the ACCs above.

EBIExchangeable Business Information - Based on the ABIEs mentioned above. The EBIs are mapped to XML as Internal Schema Module from NDR 2.0. The Internal Schema Module is however proposed to be removed in NDR 3.0.

QDTUN/CEFACT Qualified Data Types.

Some alternatives discussed(but not decided):

  • We will wait for information/decision from UN/CEFACT before deciding how to generate root schemas.
  • Ove proposed that the next version of the tool should generate ABIE schema, Data type schema (QDT/BDT) and Code list schemas according to alternative A above, i.e. according to current UN/CEFACT rules (NDR 2.0), but without the Internal schema module (EBI), which is expected to be removed in NDR 3.0.
  • Informative text in the header of the XML code lists will partly be taken from tagged values in the code lists enumerations (e.g. code names and UID) and partly from separate objects in the model (for the information not specific for each code list).
  • The file name for code lists should follow NDR 3.0 requirements, i.e.:

<Agency Identifier | Agency Name Text>_<ListIdentification Identifier | List NameText>_
<Version Identifier>.xsd

  • Assembled code lists (specialisation of two original code lists) in UML can according to NDR 2.0 be handled using union or choice in the QDTs. Which principle to use will be decided after test.

Some conclusions:

  • The current version of EMD schemas will be unchanged, i.e. made according to alternative B above and following UN/CEFACT NDR 2.0.
  • Further steps will be decided after verification of ABIE questions to TMG (see homework below).

Homework:

  • Lucy will contact UN/CEFACT (Christian Huemer) to verify how to handle ABIEs and customisation of message exchanges:
  • What is an ABIE?
  • What is the nature of an ABIE?
  • Is it reusable or is it already customised?
  • What concept of customisation does apply to an ABIE?
  • Is code list responsible in the data type syntax specific?
  • Everybody should review and comment on the Methodology

5.3News in NDR 3.0 (Ove)

Some news:

  • The structure of schema modules have been simplified
  • Less schemas
  • Among others the Internal Schema Module has been removed.

  • There has been made a new meta model for Data types
  • New usage of primitives
  • new DT (Data Type) catalogue
  • Increased usage of Context parameters
  • Throughout NDR
  • Separate schemas (ABIE, BDT) per context type (business processes)
  • Usage of relative paths for schema locations (today explicit paths are used)

6Preparation for ebIX Forum and Vendor group

A PowerPoint presentation was made.

7Information related to UN/CEFACT projects

NDR 3.0:

Based upon the comments to NDR 3.0 the work group has agreed to release another release of the ODP5 document that incorporates the feedback provided and take another round of comments. The timing for this is targeted for the Forum meeting in Senegal (November 10-14).

UPCC 3.0 – new project proposal:

Summary: UPCC 1.0 is based on CCTS 2.01. When the underlying CCTS specification changes this must be reflected in the UML Profile as well. Thus the new UPCC version will be based on the CCTS 3.0 which is already in implementation verification. Concerning the version numbering, we decided to skip version number 2.0 and continue with UPCC 3.0, to indicate the strong link to CCTS 3.0.

Some words on priority: I think it is important to start UPCC 3.0 right now.On the one hand side, CCTS 3.0 is in a reasonable stable state (it made it to implementation verification) and on the other hand side CCTS has not yet completed the ODP, which still allows for feedback, if we recognize any problems in transforming the CCTS meta model to a meta model on top of the UML. With respect to resources, some UML experts within TMG have indicated their willingness to participate in the project. In other words the key resources are those having been mostly involved in the UML/UMM work rather than in the CCWG projects, even given that the UPCC project will be conducted under the umbrella of the CCWG.

8If time items (candidates for items on next meeting)

There was no time to go through the If-time-items. The items were postponed.

8.1Project plan for making common test procedures for the ebIX processes (Lucy and Christoph)

8.2ebIX QDT schema and consistency check between CEFACT lists and ebIX subsets (Kees)

8.3Publication of XML schemas (consequences for the ebIX web-site)

8.4Integration of the ebIX model for acknowledgement and error handling into ebIX models (UMM compliant) - Described in the ebIX methodology

9Next meeting(s) , including start and end time.

  • December, Tuesday 9th and Wednesday 10th, Brussels, 9:00 - 17:00 and 9:00 - 16:00
