Agenda Item 1: Minutes of last meeting

Charles Freeman apologised for the minutes of the last meeting not being circulated.

Action:

Charles Freeman to circulate minutes of February meeting; which will be discussed at the next CNS meeting(25th June 2015).

It was noted that Creative United were due to give a presentation at 11th May meeting. Unfortunately Mary-Alice Stack was unable to attend. However an opportunity may exist to pilot an approach to creative business finance with creatives united.

It was agreed to invite Mary-Alice to an extra CNS meeting end of June 2015.

Agenda Item 2: Joint work agreement Hampshire Chamber

Stewart Dunn outlined future working arrangements with Hampshire Chamber, it was agreed that:

  1. Hampshire Chamber should act as the host organisation for Creative Network South in future.
  1. The meetings will be held either at the chamber offices in Fareham or the offices of other partner organisations.
  1. The chamber will act as the host organisation for the Creative Network South website.

It was further noted that PUSH funding for CNS will run out in June / July 15. Simon Eden is exploring if further funding is available

Agenda Item 3: Plustex

Cleo Padovani gave a presentation on the Interreg funded Plustex project, it focused on innovation and graduate employment in fashion and textiles sector. During the course of the project good practice was researched in several European countries. The Winchester School of Arts is seeking to investigate how this good practice could be implemented in the Solent area.

Action:

Network members were invited to express interest in working on these initiatives to Cleo Padovani Charles Freeman

Agenda Item 4: New CNS Website

Charles Freeman outlined progress made by Solent Creative’s on the new CNS website. It was noted that:

  • functionality would be key to the success of the new website;
  • the website should be responsive rather than static;
  • logos were slightly lost in current design

Creative Network South members were invited to submit details of case studies to be included on the website and to comment on the websites structure.

It was noted that the website will be hosted by Hampshire Chamber of Commerce and that individual sections will be managed by lead organisations, in particular the research network would manage the sections on search and evidence.

Agenda Item 5: Pencilville

Jon Watson gave a presentation on the web based business support services establishing for creative businesses Pencilville, the services will include:

  1. The development of web based community of creative’s
  1. The provision of online training materials

Jon was invited to engage with CNS networks, in particular the digital and games network.

Agenda Item 6: Project Updates

The project update report was noted. Liz Smith drew attention to Interreg funding. It was noted that the channel programme had a specific remit to support culture and creative industries and the next call with be June 2015, then November 2015, the programme can fund up to 69% of project costs.

It was also noted that the LEP European funding calls had been published and the strand relating to business support could be of particular significance to the creative sector.
