Minute of Kincorth/Leggart Community Council meeting held on Monday 10th October 2016 at Our Lady of Aberdeen RC, Church, Provost Watt Drive, Aberdeen.

Present : Graham Bennett Chairman, Hazel Park Treasurer, Father G Hutcheon Planning Officer, Joyce Leslie, Iris Bennett, , Councillor A Finlayson, , PC Dainton, PC Maxwell and David Fryer

Apologies for absence were received from Catherine Cowie,William Cowie,Councillor S Flynn Hannah Park andGary Mitchell.

Minute of previous meeting

The minute of the meeting held on 12thSeptember were agreed as a correct record.

Roy Wilson

Graham opened the meeting by advising of the sad news of Roy Wilsons passing in early August. Catherine had spoken to his family and passed on our regards.

Police Report

PC ‘sDainton and Maxwell reported that for the past 4 week period there had been 18 crimes reported. There were2 incidents at The Abbot both had been detected.Also 3 theft/ house break ins both are ongoing enquiries. Crimes were mostly theft from houses or fuel stations.

Asda Community Champion

Catherine had completed the forms for Margeaux of The AsdaFoundation, which she collected at the beginning of the meeting. She reported if the funding was granted by The Asda Foundation she would be available to help at the Christmas Light Switch on.WE advised her she was more than welcome.

Matters Arising

Skate Park / Playpark Update

The Secretary had reported that a submission had been made in regard to Aberdeen City Council for the memorials on the benches discussed last month.

Further to Gary’s question on the lack of bins,Councillor Finlayson reported that he had talked to the Acting Head Teacher of the Academy who was keen to get involved in the clean-up of the area.Councillor Finlayson has supplied 6 sets of pickers, Hi Vis vests and 10 pairs of gloves; these will be left at the school.

Christmas Lights

The date for the Christmas Party Switch On has been agreed with Scotia, and is Sunday 27th November at 5.00pm.

South of the River Update

There was no South of The River Update as Gary was unable to attend the meeting, due to work commitments.

Energy From Waste

Father Hutcheon reported that he and Catherine had attended the Planning Committee meetingat The Townhouse on Wednesday 5th October.

Catherine, although absent from the meeting requested that it be in the minutes that she was absolutely disgusted that one of our Councillors would support this abhorrent facility. He is supposed to look after the interests of his constituents and this is not our view.

In the meeting it was pointed out that Health is not a planning issue.

Also there was no plan in place for the use of the energy generated; this again is not a planning issue.

We were advised that The Application for the public meeting enquiry had been sent.

Councillor CallumMcCaig’s Letter to The Chief Executive had been well presented

Abbot Bar Fundraiser

Gary was not in attendance, but ticket sales were discussed for Saturday 29thOctober. Iris has printed posters and tickets for the event which include Catherine and Hazel’s phone numbers for purchase of same. Posters are now up in the local area advertising the event.

A meeting has been arranged for Monday 24th at 6.30pm before the event takes place to go over final preparations.

It was agreed that 3 trays of Stovies are to be purchased from The Icon Bakery at a cost of £66.00.The question needed to be asked if the 3 trays were enough to feed 100 should all the tickets be sold. Also that The Abbot is happy for us to use their ovens.

Raffle donations for the night had been promised by several people.

Swimming Pool Issue

No updates, as now closed

CCTV at Provost Watt Shopping Centre

Councillor Finlayson reported that he was awaiting an updated estimate but that the council are happy to link intoTillydrone. He was awaiting an update as people on holiday at this time. Councillor Finlayson advised that he would have an update at the next meeting.

Noticeboard

The Secretary now has the keys for the noticeboard in the shopping centre, but advised that new locks are required.

Homework Club

The Secretary had advised that a submission had been made for funding for tables chairs and equipment. On asking Joyce if she was interested in being involved in The Homework Club, she advised that at this time she was unable to commit as too busy.

Correspondence

Items of correspondence were received from:

New Academy South of The River – In Gary’s absence Councillor Finlayson reported that he had been at the site and advised that the foundations were in and that they were hoping that the steel frame would be up by the end of the year.

Aberdeen Active Travel Action Place Consultation – 8 week consultation from Thursday 15th September to Friday 11th November

CC Research Project – Read and passed round

Bear Scotland Consultation – Response was required by 11th October Graham going to respond.

Local Authority Investment In Arms - Read and passed round

Planning

Father Hutcheon reported that he would be unable to attend the Planning Aid Training on Saturday 26th November due to other commitments.

Licensing

Iris reported that there is a Licencing Training Workshop on the 7th December at The Town House which she will attend.

Treasurers Report

The Treasurer reported that currently there is £2720.26 in the account. A cheque had been requested for £15.00 from the Secretary for parking.
