GENTS DRAWN COMPETITIONS – GENERAL RULES

1)These rules shall apply to Monthly Medals and other competitions designated as Fox and Hounds qualifying competitions, shown on the fixture card as F&H.

2)An entry sheet will be posted on the Clubhouse notice board at least 15 days (including two weekends) prior to the date of the competition.

3)The draw will be made 3 days prior to the competitions and a copy will be exhibited on the Clubhouse notice board and in the Fox and Hounds, Denholm and on the Club website.

4)The 1st tee shall be reserved for competition players from 7.30 am until 10.30 am and from 12.30 pm until 3.30 pm. Non competition players may tee off from other tees during these times, or may use the 1st tee if it is not in use for the competition. They MUST, however, give way to competition players on the course and give priority to them on the 1st tee during their round.

5)The format of play for non competing members, and for visitors , shall be 3 or 4 ball in accordance with the competition format of the day.

6)Groups must play as drawn. Alterations are not to be allowed unless authorised by a member of the Competitions and Handicaps Committee.

7)The last two groups in any period of play should ensure that there is no single competitor left without a partner due to the non appearance of their playing partners.

8)Entry fees MUST be paid before playing. No fee is required if playing for a handicap.

9)After the last players have entered their scores into the Club 2000 system the Competition results will be published through Howdidido and on the Club Notice Board as soon as possible.

10)There will only be one class of Competition for all handicaps 0-28 inclusive.

11)In the event of ties they shall be decided by the better last 9, last 6, last 3, last hole, then the front 9, taking handicap strokes as per the Stroke Index.

12)All score cards MUST be returned, even if not completed, as they are taken into account for handicap adjustments.

13)Entries to the spare spaces in the draw sheet and notice of withdrawl, MUST be made by contacting the Club Steward who will act under the instruction of the Competition Convenor.

14)Country Members and Overseas Members may play in all Medals and Stableford competitions but this will be regarded as a one day competition for them. They will not be eligible to represent the Club in an ongoing competition in the Club or out with the Club

LADIES DRAWN COMPETITIONS – GENERAL RULES

1)The entry sheet for each competition will appear on the website one month in advance of the competition.

2)Entries close at 6pm two days before the competition.

3)The draw will be made the day before the competition and posted on the website and in the glass cabinet in the ladies’ locker room.

4)In the monthly medals, ladies may elect to play at any time throughout the day, booking their own tee times and advising the Ladies’ Competition Secretary to be part of the competition, by 6pm two days before the competition.

Please check the club diary and website for tee reservation times.

5)In any mid-week competition, ladies may book a tee time between 12 and 12.30pm. The should then advise the Ladies’ Competition Secretary to be part of the competition by 6pm two days before the competition.

6)Tee off times must be as drawn or, to change or withdraw, contact the Ladies’ Competition Secretary.

7)The last two groups in any tee off slot must ensure that no single competitor is left without a partner.

8)Entry fees must be paid before the competition starts.

9)Competitors must sign in before starting their rounds.

10)Silver division is 0-20 handicap. Bronze division is 21-36 handicap.

11)All score cards should be returned. If incomplete, N/R should be inserted as the total score. Results will be published on Howdidido and the Club Website as soon as possible after closure of the Competition.

12)Country members are eligible to play in one day competitions only and cannot go forward as Club representatives. They cannot compete in the Championship or the Hole and Hole Cup.

GENTS NON DRAWN COMPETITIONS - GENERAL RULES

1)These rules shall apply to all competitions other than those shown on the fixture card as Fox and Hounds – Drawn Events and to all competitions open to both Ladies and Gents.

2)Competitors may enter online by booking a tee time up to 3 weeks before the competition. The competition can also be entered on the day.

3)Times will be reserved and players will normally play in groups of 3 (although there may be special events for groups of 4). Reservations can be altered so that single players are not left without partners.

4)Members may reserve tee times even if not playing in the competition, but MUST give priority to competitors on the course.

5)Competitors MUST pay their entry fee before playing.

6)Ties shall be decided by the better last 9 holes, last 6 holes, last 3 holes, last hole and then the front 9 holes, handicap strokes being taken according to the Stroke Index.

LADIES NON DRAWN COMPETITIONS – GENERAL RULES

1)These rules shall apply to all competitions other than those shown on the fixture card as Drawn Events and to all competitions open to both Ladies and Gents (and Juniors if applicable).

2)Members will enter the competitions by booking a tee time on line for the relevant day.

3)This will be available at least 21 days before the competition date. You can still enter on the day of the competition.

4)Times will be reserved and players will normally play in groups of 3 (although there may be special events for groups of 4). Reservations can be altered so that single players are not left without partners.

5)Members may reserve tee times, using the website for the relevant day, even in not playing in the competition, BUT must give priority to competitors on the course.

6)Competitors must pay their entry fee before playing.

7)Ties shall be decided by the better last 9 holes, last 6 holes, last 3 holes, last hole and then front 9 holes, handicap strokes being taken according to the Stroke Index.

GENTS CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS

1)All play in the club championships shall be played off scratch.

2)Club Championships shall be held in three classes:

Club Championship (1st Class)OPEN TO ALL HANDICAPS

Club Championship (2nd Class)Handicaps 10-15

Class 3 Roofers Trophy (3rd Class)Handicaps 16-28

entry shall consist of qualifying by Medal play followed by subsequent rounds of Match play during the last full week of June.

3)An entry fee shall be paid to enter any of the Club championship classes and shall be in addition to any fee due for entry to the qualifying competitions. The fee shall be decided by the Competition and Handicap Committee each year.

4)An entry to any of the Championship classes MUST be recorded and paid PRIOR to the FIRST qualifying competition if the score of that competition is to be counted towards the qualifying score.

5)Juniors will only be allowed the chance to play in the Club Championship with a handicap of 9 or under. All other Juniors and Juveniles to play only in the Junior championship. They will not be allowed to play in both Championships.

6)Qualifying:

a)The Competition and Handicap Committee shall nominate 3 Club competitions and entrants to each Championship class must obtain a qualifying score by taking the aggregate of their TWO BEST SCORES from these competitions.

b)The sixteen best aggregate scores in each class will qualify for the match play rounds. It shall be at the discretion of the Competition and Handicap Committee to reduce the number that qualify to the match play stages in any class according to the number of entrants.

c)Ties in the Qualifying scores shall be decided by:-

(i)The better score in the third qualifying round provided that all players concerned have played three rounds. If not then

(ii)The better score in the last of the two rounds counted in the qualifying score, regardless of the fact that they may be different dates, followed by the last 9 holes, last 6 holes, last 3 holes, last hole, as is required to break the tie, failing which the first round of the qualifying score shall be used on a similar basis.

d)The handicap played off in the first qualifying competition shall determine which class shall be played in, in the Match play stages, for Class 2 and Class 3.

7)Match Play:

a)Match play rounds shall take place during the last full week of June unless otherwise decided by the Competition and Handicaps Committee.

b)The draw of qualifiers for match play shall be seeded for all players according to their qualifying position. Substitutes will be placed in the position of the qualifier who withdraws after, but not before the draw is made. There will be no redraw.

c)All ties shall be played to a conclusion unless conceded. In the event of ties being level after 18 holes of play, except in the final, play shall continue on the 1st, 7th,8t h,9thand 10th holes in rotation until a decision is reached. In the event of a tie in the final play will continue on the 1st, 2nd,3rd etc until a decision is reached.

d)All ties will be played over 18 holes, including the 2nd and 3rd Class finals. The 1st Class Club Championship shall be played over 36 holes.

e)The days for match play rounds shall be decided by the Competition and Handicaps Committee each year and shown on the fixture card. Any change to the days shall be at the discretion of the Committee.

f)All ties MUST be played on the stipulated day and at, or before, the appointed time unless otherwise approved by the Competition and Handicap Committee.

OPEN COMPETITIONS

MARGARET DONALDSON” MEMORIAL TROPHY Open Mixed Foursomes

1)This event is to perpetuate the name of Margaret Donaldson within Minto Golf Club, for her enthusiasm and effort in the furtherance of golf within the Club, and in the Borders area through the Border Ladies County Golf Association.

2)The trophy for the competition has kindly been donated by the next of kin of the late Margaret Donaldson. The trophy was first played for in 1986.

3)The event shall be conducted as a mixed foursomes competition, open to pairs from all interested clubs. Players participating must hold a current CONGU Handicap as a member of a golf club.

4)The event fee shall be decided each year by the Competition and Handicap Committee augmented by the Lady Captain and by the Lady Match Secretary. This committee shall hold the responsibility for conducting the competition and for taking all decisions appertaining thereto.

5)Donations from this event shall be made to the local area representative for the Macmillan Cancer Support.

6)The competition shall be conducted according to the Rules of Golf as related to mixed foursome events.

7)Ladies, maximum handicap 36, shall play from the ladies medal tees and shall drive on the ODD NUMBERED HOLES. Gents, maximum handicap 28, shall play from the gents medal tees, and shall drive on the EVEN NUMBERED HOLES.

8)Pairs of players shall add their handicaps together and take half of the combined handicap as their allowance. Half strokes will count as such and will not be rounded up to the nearest whole number.

9)The winning pair shall be the one returning the best net score over 18 holes of medal stroke play.

10)Ties shall be decided by the better last 9, last 6, last 3,last hole, then the front 9, handicap strokes being taken off as shown on the Gents stroke index.

THREE MAN TEAM TOURNAMENT

1)This event shall be conducted as an Open Tournament for which players holding a National Handicap are eligible.

2)The tournament shall be held in two sections:

a)An event for teams of 3 players of any handicap, with the exception of Juniors who must have a maximum playing handicap of 18.

b)An individual event for the players making up the teams in (a) above.

3)Each player shall complete 18 holes of medal stroke play, giving an individual score for both scratch and handicap purposes, in each section of the tournament.

4)Team scores shall be reached by adding all 3 players individual scores, and shall be calculated for both scratch and handicap.

5)Prizes shall be presented for:

a)Best Handicap Team

b) Best Scratch Team

c)Best Handicap Individuals

d)Best Scratch Individuals

Provided that no single player may win more than one prize in the team section plus one prize in the individual section.

6)Trophies will be presented as follows:

a)Tennants TrophyBest Team Handicap

b)Royal Bank TrophyBest Team Scratch

c)Bank of Scotland TrophyBest Individual Scratch

d)TSB TrophyBest Individual Handicap

7)Ties to be decided by the last 9 holes, last 6 holes, last 3 holes, last hole, then the front 9 holes.

8)The entry fee to be decided each year by the Competition and Handicap Committee, who shall have the responsibility for conducting the event and all decisions appertaining thereto.

MINTO GENTS OPEN TOURNAMENT

1)This event is a medal competition open to all men who hold a valid club handicap and have paid the appropriate entry fee.

2)The Organiser(s) of the tournament shall be the Competitions and Handicaps Committee who shall set the entry fee.

3)The number of competitors shall be limited to 168, or such number as is permitted by the Organiser. If over- subscribed, the field will be reduced to the agreed number by a ballot.

4)Competitors will play in threes, their starting times to be determined by a draw.

5)There will be prizes for the best Gross and Net scores and minor prizes thereafter dependant on entry numbers.

NO COMPETITOR MAY RECEIVE MORE THAN ONE PRIZE.

6)Ties will be decided on the basis of the better last 9, last 6, last 3, last hole , then the front 9 in the same manner.

GENTS SENIORS OPEN TOURNAMENT

1)This event is open to all men aged 55 and over, who hold a valid club handicap.

2)The Organiser(s) of the event, and the entry fee shall be approved by Council acting through the Competition and Handicap Committee.

3)The number of competitors shall be limited to 168, or such number as is permitted by the organiser. If over-subscribed the field will be reduced to the agreed number by a ballot, giving preference to players who are 60 and over.

4)The event is a Medal competition.

5)Competitors will play in threes, their starting times to be determined by a draw.

6)There will be 3 handicap prizes in each age group (ages 55-63 inclusive, 64-69 inclusive and 70 and over) with the overall handicap winner from whichever group receiving an extra £50. There will be one overall scratch prize equal to the value of the first handicap prize. (10 prizes)

NO COMPETITOR MAY RECEIVE MORE THAN ONE PRIZE.

7)Ties will be decided on the basis of the better last 9, last 6, last 3, last hole, then the front 9 holes.
