Evaluators-needed for State STAR Event Competition
Minnesota Family, Career and Community Leaders of America
If you value Minnesota youth and their ability to positively affect our state’s future, I would like to invite you to share your content expertise by serving as an evaluator for a Minnesota STAR Events (Students Taking Action with Recognition). The event takes place on April 14 and 15 at the Bloomington Doubletree Hotel in Bloomington, MN.We value your involvement as a business and industry volunteer because MN Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), is a career and technical student organization that prepares youth for various careers they can pursue in their future.
As part of the programming, we sponsor leadership and career and technical education opportunitiesfor students in grades 5-12.Thisstate conference STAR Event program will involve over 1000 students from 95 schools. You will serve as a part of an evaluation team that will also include an FCCLA senior high student and FCCLA alumni members. Your role as an evaluator will be:
- Judge each presentation based on an evaluation scoring rubric and give oral feedback.
- Potentially choose a the list of top event for qualifying for National FCCLA competition
- Re-interview the top participants, as needed.
- Discuss findings with other judges.
A Lead Consultant and a Room Consultant familiar with FCCLA will guide you through the judging process. Participants are given gold, silver or bronze medals and chapters can earn a trophy for 3 or attaining more gold level events.
The sessions for STAR Events occur in 4 time frames:
- Thursday afternoon, April 14 11 am-4 :00 pm
- Thursday evening, April 14 6:30 pm-10:30 pm
- Friday morning, April 157:30 am-12:00 pm
- Friday Afternoon, April 15 noon pm-5:00 pm
