XXXACS4001 / Produce concept drawings
APPLICATION / This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to produce concept drawings and documentation according to client and workplace requirements, using appropriate scale and current industry-standard software packages.

  1. Prepare to produce concept drawing.
/ 1.1.Identify and review job requirements and clarify with client as required.
1.2.Source and review information to inform drawings.
1.3.Source and set up job-specific software and templates.
  1. Create concept drawing.
/ 2.1.Produce draft of concept drawings according to workplace requirements.
2.2.Check that draft drawing meets compliance and client requirements.
2.3.Seek feedback on elements of draft drawing.
2.4.Review feedback and adjust drawing as required.
  1. Finalise concept drawing.
/ 3.1.Produce final draft drawing and associated documentation.
3.2.Obtain client approval of final draft drawing.
3.3.Store final drawing and documentation according to workplace requirements.
3.4.Review production process and identify process improvements for team review.

Assessment requirements for XXXACS4001Produce concept drawings
PERFORMANCE EVIDENCE / A person demonstrating competency in this unit must satisfy all of the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit.
The person must also produce drawings for three different types of concepts.
In the process of producing each concept drawing, the person must:
  • consult with client and colleagues during the production and finalisation process
  • incorporate feedback into the drawing
  • use industry-current software packages and templates
  • research and apply compliance requirements relating to the nature and type of project for which the drawing is being produced
  • apply industry-established drawing conventions and techniques
  • produce and store documentation associated with each drawing.
