“Infer Me”
Mini-Project & Presentation
Introduction:
We will get to know many characters this semester, and one of those character is YOU! There are two types of characterization: direct and indirect. This assignment is going to call on you to indirectly characterize yourself, by telling us a bit about your likes and dislikes. By answering the following prompts and creating a visually appealing poster, you will imply what type of person you are. We, your audience, will infer meaning based on your presentation.
The Product:
You will answer the following prompts by creating a neat, creative, thoughtful poster that will go up on the classroom wall (your name will go on the front, in large letters, so make something you’re proud of). You will explain why you answered in such a way by writing/typing out your answers on the back of your poster. You will give a 2-4 minute “mini-presentation” to display your product and support your answers to the prompts. I will model this for you in class.
The Prompts:
- You are such a big deal that everyone wants to read your memoir! What title best encapsulates who you are?
- You want to create a playlist to reflect your moods. Choose one song to fit each of the following: your feel good song, a song that touches your heart, and a song that brings back a memory.
- You’re going on a trip to Mars and it’s going to take a loooong time to get there and back! Name 1-6 companions you’d like to have with you. You can choose anyone.
- Uh, oh! There was a meltdown at the local nuclear power plant! The good news is, you weren’t vaporized and now you have superpowers. What is your superpower and what will you call yourself?
- Your memoir was a best seller and now they’re making it into a movie. The plot revolves around your trip to Mars and you’re in charge of casting. Who will be hired to play the roles of you and your Mars crew?
